About this Holiday House

Enjoy a relaxing break and let the kids run around and occupy themselves on the beach or in the native forests - great for all the family. Kick back and relax, get back to basics, read a good book, play cricket on the green and take time out for yourself and recharge. Enjoy the family friendly holiday spot as well as abundance of native flora, fauna and bird life. This is a beautiful, traditional 1950's beach 'bach' with quaint appeal, set in well established gardens. There is a little stream running through the garden to add to the retreat feel. A short stroll to the popular Waipatiki beach - The golden sand beach offers swimming, surfing, fishing, diving with the fresh water stream being popular with younger children. Small boats can be launched from beach, and the many coastal and bush walks are well worth exploring with kahikatea trees, Nikau palms and a redwood forest. Keep your eyes and ears out for numerous beautiful native birds including Tui, Kereru and Bellbirds.

Special Attractions and Activities Nearby

The name Waipatiki means "water...sand flounder" and was so called because it was once an estuarine valley, and a very good place to catch these fish. The long steep decent to the valley brings you to the Waipatiki Scenic Reserve, a 64ha remnant of coastal forest. Waipatiki Beach is primarily a pleasant small secluded swimming beach, with a good sandy beach. Other recreational pursuits include surfing, diving, swimming in the local stream and walking trails. There is a publicly owned campground which provides the only shopping facilities. The locality also benefits from a large community reserve (Waipatiki Domain) with toilet block and shower. Hawkes Bay restaurants, wineries (Linden Estate Winery, Valley d'Vine Restaurant, Crab Farm Winery, Bay View Hotel) and a local craft brewery (Zeelandt Brewery) are a short drive, with Napier's Art Deco town approximately 30 minutes away.

Our second visit to Titoki Cottage. Highly recommend a stay at Vaness’s villa. It’s clean, tidy and the house is very well equipped. The garage is full of ‘toys’, boogie boards and bikes to use during your stay. Gorgeous mature garden, birds galore and very private. It’s 5 min walk to a beautiful safe clean beach. Nice holiday for all ages. Only shame couldn’t bring my doggy- he’d love it here too lol! We’ll be back I’m sure, thanks Vanessa.

My friend and I had such a relaxing and restorative break in Titoki cottage. It was cold and wet when I arrived but the cottage was soon warm a cosy thanks to the heat pump. Having internet and Netflix was a real treat that night. The beds were really comfortable and the next day the sun came out. We were able to sit in the sunny garden and read our books. Walk along the beach and headland and enjoy the thoughtful treats Vanessa left us. We are Hawke’s bay locals and would highly recommend this Bach. We hope to return again soon. Thanks Vanessa.
