About this Holiday House

Just relisted for summer! New this year: Spa Pool, Smeg induction cook top and stove. Our friends and family talk about the 'spectacular' sea views. Especially down to Tahunanui Beach and across the Bay to the Takaka mountain range. We love the 10 minute walk to the beach via nearby Days Track and the 6 minute drive to Nelson township. The private deck for BBQ'g and eating meals, its great sitting and looking over the trees out to the sea. All this from a private access, incredibly secluded recently 50's style terrace home!

Special Amenities

Near the top of Britannia Heights, Tiro Moana is a 50's weatherboard style home. It's surprisingly secluded with it's own private drive and gardens. The stunning and totally uninterrupted sea views extend 180 degrees and include Tahunanui Beach and the Takaka Hils across the Bay. The place is in bathed in sun, especially in the afternoons with the lounge, kitchen, conservatory and deck looking out to the West. Everything is very fresh and clean with all new furniture added for a comfortable, enjoyable stay. Great for a small group, two couples or a family with older children wanting sole use of a casual and relaxing home. The second bedroom can be configured either as a superking or two single beds. Let us know what you would like when you book. Off street parking for three cars. Room also for a boat, camper etc. Our place is currently being rented out over winter and will be available again from January. Here's a rundown of the spaces: Lounge/Kitchen/Dinning: open plan space with polished wooden floors. Very well appointed kitchen with Smeg induction cook to and stove. There's plenty of pans, platters, and cooking utensils. Also a multitude of wine glasses. For coffee lovers we have a Nespresso with lots of capsules, a plunger with local coffee. There's a soda stream maker and two cold bottles of sparkling water will be waiting in the fridge. And a few local goodies in the pantry too. Deck comes off the dinning area. Conservatory: linking the lounge to the deck. Helps keep the place cool in the summer, warm in the winter. A nice space out of the wind. Main bedroom: opens to own private deck. Own ensuite with large shower. Bedroom 2: Can be configured as two singles or superking Bedroom 3: Two singles. Own entrance. Bathroom 2: Toilet, shower and separate bath Laundry: separate by 2nd entry. The house has luxury grade Sheridan linen including beach towels, included in the price. We also have a bike wash down area and a lockable storage area. We hope you enjoy Tiro Moana as much as we do!

Special Attractions and Activities Nearby

Our love for Nelson comes from the great outdoors, great food and wine, and great art that's all to be found here. Tiro Moana is close to it all. In no particular order: Craft Beer: Nelson also happens to be the craft beer capital of NZ (we're not at all biased...). There's a multitude of brewers near and far. The Sprig and Fern has several watering holes around Nelson and the Freehouse is a great place to sample many of the local brews. The original is to be found over the Takaka Hill: The Mussel Inn. Wineries: Last count, 26 in the area. We suggest a thorough investigation into all. Especially Neudorf if pinot is your thing. Restaurants: Where to start? Down the hill water side is the Boat Shed and the Boat House - both over the water, and three more besides, max drive four minutes. In town, Hopgoods is our fav, it and Urban Oyster have just won awards. All in all, we reckon once you count, besides Nelson, the winery restaurants, the Mapua restaurants, the ones in Richmond, and all the Thai places, you could eat out somewhere new everyday during a six month sabbatical. And pretty much enjoy every one. Food generally: there is a cornucopia of artisan cheese, seafood, fruit, veges, peanut butter and other yummies here. Best starting place is the Saturday Market, a full 6 minutes to drive down, another 6 to find a park if you're arriving after 9.30am. The breakfast crepes in the yellow trailer....hard to go past.... we're still addicted after five years. Art: so personal - check out the Nelson Art Trail. We're slowly building our collection at Tiro Moana. Or combine everything into the Art & Food Route on the Great Taste Trail. Mountain Biking - so yeah, we do reckon Nelson is the MTB capital of the WORLD! Closest single track ride is 20 mins ride away (a bit more coming back up the hill home...). The most epic ride is still under research but we're very happy to share our current favourites with you. Sorry no gondolas for those hills out there. Also out there: Tramping, paragliding, rock climbing, SUP, kayaking...... We can hook you up.
