About this Holiday House

Aruhe, in Whanarua Bay, is a self-contained cottage set at the edge of the Raukumara Forest and overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The cottage has wide decks and is set amongst ancient Puriri and Tawa trees. It is secluded and the environment is tranquil (there is no mobile phone coverage), making it the perfect spot to relax in luxury and enjoy the surroundings. The property is almost a hectare, and half of that is in native bush. You are welcome to explore. The beach is a 10 minute walk away and the Bay is one of the prettiest on the Coast. The cottage is open plan and most comfortably sleeps 2. A sofa bed sleeps an additional 1 or 2 people and whilst this is fine for 1 or two nights it is not recommended for a longer stay. The kitchen is well equipped and stocks basic food items. ARUHE is pet-friendly (I have a dog). If you bring a dog, please keep in mind that the property is not fenced and that wildlife (possums, deer and hares) can be a tempting challenge. Please ensure their inoculations are up to date before you arrive. Please note that there is no mobile phone coverage although you will access it ten minutes down the road. A landline is available should you need it.

Thanks Ngaire. It was a pleasure to host you and your dogs were so very well behaved they were no trouble at all.
Aruhe is an absolute gem. The studio is modern and comfortable and has everything you need for an extremely relaxing holiday. Especially love the bed and the outdoor furniture for soaking up the sun while reading a book......heaven. The location is stunning and our host Kim is welcoming and friendly! It really is paradise and we loved every minute of our holiday.

Thanks for the great review. I enjoyed having you stay and nice to hear that the bed was comfy as was the outdoor furniture. I enjoyed meeting your family and appreciated your respectfulness around their visits. I was grateful that you left Aruhe in a spotless state and hope to see you or your family back here again. Happy cycling in November Mark.
Beautiful, tranquil setting in native bush with great view out to the sea. Tastefully decorated, light and airy, well stocked and comfortable bed set in a great property. Nice walk to the rocky/stoney beach, which is one of the most beautiful in the area. Would be good to have a kayak to explore the coves and rocky shore. The Macadamia Nut plantation cafe is an added bonus. A retreat in the paradise that is the East Cape of NZ. Highly recommended.
