This is an awesome house, located right on the beach and with six huge bedrooms it is great for a group or a couple to head away together and explore this stunning part of New Zealand. Upstairs there are two bedrooms and can accommodate seven people. The views from the deck out over the ocean make it a great place to watch the sunset. There is a living room up there complete with a pool table and a spa pool. (advise in advance if you will be wanting to use the spa) Then downstairs is a huge living area with plenty of couches for everyone to gather together around the roaring logburner. The kitchen is well set up with everything you need to cater for a group. Then four more large bedrooms all with comfortable double beds. Outside there is plenty of parking, a great deck and outdoor table and walk down the lawn to the beach. There is even a kennel and the section is fully fenced if you want to bring your dog. A couple of doors down is the school with a great playground for the kids. Across the railway line is the Museum which we ran out of time to visit. You must also visit Denniston Mine - about a 20 minute drive away, and the Charming Creek walkway is also well worth doing with lots of mining/logging relics, tunnels, waterfalls, swing bridges and stunning bush and scenery. We will have to head back again to explore Karamea and see all the things we missed. Our host - Simon was very friendly and gave us some good tips on things to see in the area. We loved it.

We originally booked the whole lodge for our family group but in the end only the two of us booked out the complete upstairs using the shared kitchen and bathroom facilities. Fully fitted galley kitchen, even a juicer! Very quiet (sound proof walls) considering the four downstairs rooms were fully booked with interesting guests, during our post Christmas time-out. Place was lovely and clean with comfortable bed. Great view from upstairs. Thoroughly enjoyed our morning walks on the beach out the back gate. Thanks for being a great host Simon, you have done a fantastic job on the lodge. It's a wonderful holiday spot. I am looking forward to organising another stay.
