Were it possible, we would give this wonderful apartment six stars. It ticked all the boxes on our short list of “musts” for holiday rentals – and then some. Location is always important. Potential renters might want to know that the apartment is on the top floor of a house on one of Wellington’s many hills. It is obviously easier to walk down than to walk up – but the destination makes the return journey uphill worth every step. It is only a ten to fifteen minute walk to an excellent choice of restaurants at all levels and covering a variety of cuisines. If you want to prepare your meals at home, the excellently equipped kitchen must have been set up by someone who loves to cook. The New World grocery store is about fifteen minute walk away as are other shops. There is a large living/dining room, a comfortable bedroom, a good bathroom and separate shower room, a laundry room with washer, dryer and large sink as well as a good rack for drying laundry indoors should the weather not accommodate using the clothesline on the grassy terrace just up behind the apartment. If the weather is fine, you might also want to use the table up there for al fresco dining while admiring the view. And speaking of views, what a view this is - in any weather, at any time of day or night - from on high, through the enormous picture window in the living area, or from the sun room and balcony beside it. Not on our checklist, but well worth mention, are the shelves and shelves of books – something for all tastes and moods. And last, but by no means least, are the owners who - from your first enquiry to your departure - do everything possible to make you feel welcome and “at home” in their home.
