Hi Wendy Thank you for your review on the Holiday Houses website for your stay at our a-frame holiday home. As you have some concerns I would have preferred you emailed me first so I could address them with you but totally respect that you have posted your review that was sent to me in the following email from Holiday Houses. I am sorry that you feel it wasn’t good value for a weekend stay as this is the first time in over 15 years we have been making our holiday home available for others to use outside of our family that we have received such a review. If you have the time then I’d appreciate if you could please take a look at the number of reviews that have been posted since 2008. I assure you none received have been removed and nor will yours. Prior to implementing the current rates for a stay at the a-frame I did considerable research on comparable properties and given the size of the a-frame am confident the rate is in line with current rates being asked for. I also had an in depth discussion with our contractor we’ve engaged to look after the linen washing, and also the cleaning if needed, and the cost we are asking is in line with the cost we would have to pay for the time, water usage and power to have it washed, dried and returned. We have found over the years that some guests have taken considerable advantage of using the consumables that we leave out and are available for use, (the majority of which would only be available in a limited number in a motel, hotel or not at all in possibly other properties on the Holiday Houses website), hence the reason we ask for any usage be either replaced or paid for. As we have no way of determining what consumables are used if tenants choose to use them, and don’t let us know then I consider them as complimentary. A previous guest left her canister of tea bags and emailed saying “consider it as a donation”. I confess that I found your comment “There was also no complimentary tea & coffee which felt a bit stingy” rather hurtful as it was available and on the kitchen bench should you have chosen to use it.
