About this Holiday House
Situated 12kms from SH1, on a working farm in the beautiful Kawhatau Valley. Built in 1904, the Quarters have matai floors, toungue & groove and rough sawn rimu walls, original big bath, kitchen table and coal range (wood supplied). A new wing has a shower, fully equipped kitchen, electric range, fridge-freezer, microwave and 4m long rimu table. Historic photos, books and local tourist information displayed. A re-located, scrub-cutters hut provides added accommodation. A barbeque is available. The quarters are the starting point for the Kawhatau Valley Walk, a 2 - 3 day farm walk taking advantage of beautiful local scenery. Local roads suitable for cycling and good trout fishing in well known local rivers.
Shearers Quarters are on a working farm, please observe all safety precautions.
