Highly recommend Black Fern! It has stunning valley views and is extremely quiet and private. There are a wide range of native birds to brighten your day. The house itself is spacious, very well setup and has everything you need. It worked really well with our kids. They had their own bedroom with ensuite bathroom and we were setup up on the other side of the house (more peace & quiet). Opening up the ranch slider doors in the master and lounge with the views was magic. The pool is all yours! It's large and heated to a very comfortable temperature. Trips to the beaches followed by warm swims really were perfect days for our family. Combine that with fantastic coffee 3 mins down the road (Ravish), a supermarket nearby and you're good to go. We'll definitely be revisiting!!

Black Fern was the perfect place for my daughters' families and I to enjoy time together. The house was so comfortable and well laid out with space for all with each double bedroom having an ensuite, and the large central living area being a great hub for breakfasts together and suppers by the fire - with the complimentary wine and chocolates. We mainly ate out at local vineyards and cafes but the super kitchen had all you could need. The pool complex beside the house was fabulous with a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, fire and lounges and even in winter we had some fun in the pool. NZ native plants form gardens around lawns and paths and the front deck overlooks the valley.. a green, peaceful and private haven which we appreciated, enjoyed and highly recommend.

My family and I had a wonderful 5 nights at Blackfern Lodge recently. My daughter was married at Ascension, and Blackfern was the perfect place to stay during this very special event. Beautiful house, with masses of room for four couples and visiting guests. Comfortable yet elegant with every need catered for. A fantastic pool and cabana area, which we used every day, and a view second to nothing. To wake up on the morning of the wedding and look down on the stunning Ascension vines and buildings we felt we could have been in Tuscany. We loved the bird-life, and masses of dragonflies flitting around the gardens, and the sculptures scattered around the property were gorgeous. Thank you Jenny.
