About this Holiday House
Off the deck, across the grass is the water, edged by 200-year-old pohutakawas at Tamaterau on the Whangarei Harbour. Visitors have described our waterfront holiday home as their favourite place to stay in Northland. Spectacular sunsets from the front deck, which looks west across the harbour - the perfect spot to enjoy a coffee at sunrise or wine and a BBQ in the evening, or to sit back and listen to the native birds' song and watch the fish jump. We regularly see pods of dolphins and even orca swim past!
With a queen-sized bed in one large bedroom, and a large open plan living/dining area sleeping another four, our bach is ideal for a family or a small group of friends. A full kitchen and shower and basin in one room with separate toilet has access from either room for added privacy. There is plenty of parking available for cars and boats, and a choice of two boat ramps within thirty seconds walk. Moorings also available, as well as nearby holiday houses, cabins and tent sites for extra family and friends.
This house is set inside Blue Heron Holiday Park at Tamaterau, a tranquil seaside community on the shores of the Whangarei Harbour, about 2 hours drive from Auckland. The area is known for great fishing, safe swimming, kayaking, waterskiing, windsurfing, kite surfing, and almost every other water sport you can think of. An 18 hole golf course is only 1.5 km away. Great surfing is only fifteen minutes away.
Our holiday house has proven popular with families and small groups of friends wanting a quiet break without forgoing the comforts of home, or looking to enjoy fishing or any of a number of water sports. Also handy to Parua Bay for sailing regattas, Mt Tiger for bowhunting or archery events, and Whangarei for other local events.
