My family and mokopuna stayed during the school holidays this year, just after the first lockdown. It was the middle of winter, it was cold and rainy outside, the weather was shocking. But the house is so big that the kids were in the play room, the mokos were crawling around in the lounge and if you needed a quiet space you could go upstairs and watch a movie. The house was warm from all the heaters and the weather really didn't matter.
Out of our 5 day stay, we managed one half day with the kids at the beach on the kayaks. Yes it was freezing but kids will be kids and just jump in. After the fist lockdown it was just a great way to catch up with my sisters and just relax.
2nd Lockdown made me want to come back to Matherson to reconnect again with family. The beach and weather was a little bit better, but the house again stood up to its job. It housed us and kept us warm and comfortable.
I am so grateful Raewyn for allowing us to stay in your beautiful whare. Its worth the stay with the beach at the end of the street, the bush track, the neighbouring beaches. If you want quiet and serenity by all means this is the place to be.
Thanks again.
Ps. I'm looking for a weekend stay now!
