We have stayed in over 50 houses and never encountered the amount of rules and conditions ever. We felt uncomfortable even being there, threats of being kicked out were everywhere. The neighbors are watching for smokers and partys. They want you to replace coffee if you use it so we just left that out. The kicker for us was they had a honesty box on the dryer with a $2 fee. The actually cost of staying there was massive after he added bond, linen charge which we didn't ask for. The heatpump rattled so much we couldnt use it. The radiant heater shown in the photos is no existent. The fire was all good but there was no paper and two matches there. There was a list a mile long of all the things they would charge you for if you messed up. The actual house itself was ok but stuff all the rules, If you want to relax don't rent this place, just a money grab. The best part of the stay was leaving. Owner was nice enough and property manager was helpful but too many facist rules for us. Such a pity to see....

Over 1,000 guests in the last ten years have really enjoyed their stay in Tranquil Haven with no comments like yours. Responsible, respectful guests are always welcome and can relax and enjoy the peaceful family-friendly neighbourhood, like a home away from home. Many guests enjoy and leave for next guests extra tea, coffee, spices etc. The drier is there for everyone’s convenience, with a tiny prompt to consider using the under-cover clothesline, which works well even when it’s raining. The cost is inconsequential. The heat-pump is quite new, was serviced a few months before you arrived and continues to run smoothly and quietly. There are plenty of radiant heaters in the house, I haven’t photographed them all. There are step by step instructions, with pictures, on lighting the fire with a lighter and matches available. I am sorry if there were only two matches left when you got there. There is a continuous supply of dried cabbage tree leaves which work even better than paper. Linen hire is entirely optional, you chose it. The bond just about always comes straight back to guests, as it did in your case too, so it costs guests nothing. I understand it may have felt like your cost went up a few times because you booked for only one person, even though you were bringing a group, then you increased the number of people coming a few times. We do try to make people’s stays affordable and comfortable and, good news, the money supports charity work.
Great house for families and their freinds. Great yard for the kids to play and the house was really warm and sunny.

Thank you Holly, it was lovely to have you and the family to stay.
Such fabulous helpful service, and a wonderful spacious and warm house. The beds were super comfortable, the kitchen fully equipped to cater for our family dinners, and the fire a serious beast which kept us snug during the depths of a Christchurch winter. Thank you Eric!
