Special Amenities

Enjoy our lovely UV treated rainwater. The cottage has a basin, detergent and a drying rack for hand washing items, and there is a good laundromat in town. I will happily do washing for guests except when water supplies are low (when we too use the laundromat). Great sunsets! The cottage is small but has a lofty ceiling so feels spacious. Simply lovely rural views. Local walks. Plant and bird ID books. Good cellphone coverage and adequate WIFI.

Mararoa Cottage is a very Tranquil place where you can enjoy the bird life and look down the valley at the serene landscape which abounds with farm animals such as Deer,Sheep, Cattle etc. With the Takitimu Mountains as a back drop the Mararoa River is one of many great rivers in the area to fish for Rainbow and Brown Trout. A 15 min drive to Manapouri or Te Anau gives you many adventures for walks, boat trips, animal viewing and access to the beautiful Fiordland Sounds. Mararoa cottage is modern and has all the amenities you would need along with plenty of indoor and outdoor space to relax in privacy. Thankyou Catherine for being great host

A perfect place for two to spend a few quiet days in the country. Catherine is a wonderful hostess, checking briefly each day to see if we needed anything, to offer advice or just a chat. Wonderfully situated for day tramping on Keplar Track or for trip to Doubtful Sound. We would recommend both. Also enjoyed the wildlife sanctuary in Te Anau, only 20 min away. Cottage is warm, well equipped and very comfortable. Loved the view from Kitchen as well as the bird life and we made full use of the garden chairs and the bar-b-que.

Mararoa Cottage proved ideal for what we wanted - 10-15 minutes drive to Manapouri and Te Anau, and 1 hour to the Mavora Lakes (gravel road). On arrival, everything was presented to a high standard. The hosts, Catherine and Paul, are very hospitable, friendly, want to please and ensure the stay is truly enjoyable. The cottage is private and peaceful, in a rural setting with a wonderful outlook - sunrise can be pretty special. Although it may appear small, the layout works well. A small room off the bedroom/bathroom provides an ideal place to tuck baggage and travel items away. The area has a lot to offer and after 10 days, still more to explore, perhaps on another occasion. Thank you.
Response from Owner
