The cottage was private and had a big lawn so great for picnics etc. Even though it was nice and private you werent far from the town as this was just a few minutes drive to Matakana so it was perfect.

If you like vintage style, like I do, this place will suit you and your family/friends, partner. I highly recommend and would defintely come back.

The location is great, secluded enough to feel like you're on a farm but only a short drive into either Leigh or Matakana. A very peaceful spot.

My friend and I stayed at the Wilson homestead with our 4 children, it was a fairly wet and not so warm school holidays but we had such a fantastic time. We loved lighting the fire and toasting marshmallows. Playing in the wonderful garden and then finding puddles to splash in along the very quiet road leading to the homestead. Braid and Patsy contacted us before our stay to ensure we had all the information we could possibly need including the best place to go and find cockles.

It feels so special to be able to stay at a place with such alot of family history, Braid is very keen to share his stories and knowledge with you and my friend and I loved imagining how a young mother with so many children coped on her own there with little in the way of the mod cons we take for granted today.

We have taken some lovely family photos and the children remember their short stay there with great fondness.

Thank you Patsy and Braid and we hope to stay there again in the future.

We had a lovely stay in this delightful house. It is very relaxing and welcoming with Patsy and Braid having managed to preserve the traditional feel of the old farmhouse whilst still making it an easy and enjoyable place to stay. It is also set in a beautiful environment, the children loved exploring the garden and it was great to just be able to walk down the road and investigate the shellfish, rockpools etc at the beach. Of course it is also in a fantastic location with so much to see and do in the local area.

Hi Mr Petchell. Thank you for your kind words. We have endevoured to keep the Homestead as authentic as possible, yet still allow for a few modern cons such as washing machine and dryer! Its charm must be working because we are having to turn people away, and even weekends are filling rapidly. I think it is the peacefulness of the place and the fact that there are no neighbours peering in..add to that the multitude of native birds, etc and yes, I can see why it appeals. Patsy
