Our Farm is an ideal location to experience a lovely country holiday. The cottage is beautiful, peaceful and cosy. There is plenty to see and do and children can play safely in a spacious farm setting. We have 800 lambing ewes, feeding the foster lambs is a big hit with the children – and many adults! The Sherry River is approx. 200 metres from the cottage, perfect for swimming or picnics and with our small dinghy endless hours of summer fun. For the more energetic there is a fantastic new astro turf tennis court, bikes to ride and walks to be enjoyed. There are many pretty and interesting walks around the farm and with the cottage always in sight no worry about getting lost. Fishing in the nearby Wangapeka river is challenging, capture of one of these beauties something to be proud of. Nearby Kahurangi National Park also has lovely walks with an opportunity to experience a pristine beech forest environment. We would be happy to arrange a guide if you would prefer. We have the knowledge to help you get the most from your Nelson experience, whether it is finding a local winery, the best beach or dare-devil activity. We are just a short drive from the township of Tapawera (approx 15mins) easy driving instructions on our webite.

We had a great time at this wonderful house surrounded by the old trees!
Kids loved to ride the bikes: there was one for all our 5 children.
We all loved to play tennis (at least to try it).

Matariki Farm was the biggest surprise of our recent 13 day trip in the South Island. We stayed at many different places during our vacation, including some very fancy and lovely places, but Lorraine & Ed's Farm absolutely stood out as the best of them all. Many things added up to the splendid experience, but some specific comments -

- The cottage is setup to be self catering & it has everything one could possibly need, including an array of spices to cook with, and plenty of books to read. These touches make it a very easy & comfortable place to settle into.
- The Cottage has a lot of privacy but help is always around the corner if you need anything at all. Lorraine and Ed are lovely hosts. They involved our children in a bunch of activities including feeding the baby lambs, counting the sheep, going on the quad, etc etc etc
- The place was a huge hit with the kids who loved biking around (there are bikes with the cottage), playing soccer with Kai (the wonder dog), and playing with the other dogs on the property. They didn't want to leave and I don't blame them for it.
- The area is beautiful and not too far from Abel Tasman National Park, where we spent a beautiful sunny day. There is a lot to do in the area too so visitors have plenty of options.

Our Farm is a beautiful, peaceful, rejuvenating place that I would recommend without hesitation to anyone planning a trip in that area!

If you want a vacation away from it all, thoroughly recommend this house. Despite the unexpected rain, we had a great time, especially talking to Lorraine and Ed about their farm and their life experiences. Too bad those big fish in the rivers stayed there despite our boys' greatest efforts to catch them. We would like to return with better weather and experience the shearing of the sheep. Well appointed house, excellent hosts.
