WEEKEND RETREAT, SURPRISE ROMANTIC WEEKEND? GIRLS WEEKEND? FAMILY SUMMER HOLIDAY
Lake front, beach, and own jetty. The shack is an original 1920's Kauri fishing lodge that whilst retaining its character and atmosphere has been quietly updated with small touches.

Summer, sleep on the balcony with the windows folded back, kayak along the lakefront to the local store or relax on the small private beach while your children play or master the kayaks or rowboat.

Winter, laze on the balcony bed, read beside the open fire, enjoy a hot pool (across the lake by boat) or swim in the soda springs (8 min drive). The shacks heating is mostly with the open fire so it will be chilly mid winter mornings - bring slippers for the wooden floorboards.

Sunset Cocktails or Breakfast on the boat shed 'drawbridge'.

Plumbed outdoor bath for soaking in.

Rowboat, stand up paddle board and 3 kayaks.(2 single and 1 double) available for use at your own risk.

Some care is needed with small children due to the house being water front and like many Lake Rotoiti houses is alongside the state highway (there will be some rumbles early mornings from logging trucks passing through). The house though is fenced and gated from the road and the balcony has a 'stable' door designed to assist with keeping small children and toddlers in.

A living area with open fire opens out onto the balcony room with bifolding windows over the lake.

The 3 bedrooms are small but well appointed with quality duvets, bedside lamps, electric blankets etc. The balcony bed is sought after for starlit winter and summer nights.

The original kitchen has mostly new appliances (no dishwasher). Separate laundry, toilet and shower.

Boat launching 2-3 km's away at either Gisborne Point or Hinehopu, The Shack has its own jetty for overnight mooring. There is parking for cars, boat/trailor but you will need to be able to "5 point turn".

The boat shed has its own verandah 'draw bridge' for summer play or sunset drinks on our lazybeans bean bags.

Our Rotoiti based bach managers will greet and farewell you.

The shack is an absolutely waterfront iconic family Bach.

Hi Lucy
My partner and I stayed at this awesome cottage for 2 nights in early May 2015.
A cottage with history oozing out of the walls and everything you need for an enjoyable stay. The open fire was one of the highlights for us as the weather was not the best.
We slept on the bed out on the porch (probably a bit cold on a cold winter night though) and what a view to wake up to.
Didn't get a chance to make use of the kayaks or row boat in the boat shed......next time!!.
The Waitangi Soda Springs are just up the road, not sign posted that well, worth a dip and didn't see any tourists, actually had the whole place to ourselves both times we went. There were a couple of locals turned up for a short time. Went while it was raining and it was just awesome.
The main road can be a little noisy as noted in the description but don't let that put you off.
No TV great just unwind and relax away from the town

I loved our stay wish we had another day. Private, well appointed and well recommended. Wish the record player was there though. I will be back and have told many of my friends.
