Unlike many other kiwi baches Waimarama fishing lodge really is well appointed and beautifully clean and maintained.
This feels like a precious and well loved haven.
The lodge was warm, dry, and we are looking forward to returning in winter to further enjoy the fireplace in the cozy lounge room.
We enjoyed cooking in the spacious kitchen and loved the spectacularly large dining table which really just has to be seen.
The library is very peaceful and would be a great place to sit and write your own book.
The little garden at the back is pretty and our kids loved playing there.
The beds were very comfortable and the linen lovely. I appreciated the comfy wingback chair in the room where our baby slept.
We loved the great waterfall like shower in the ensuite bathroom, and the kids loved the bath.
We had a wonderful 4 nights here at Easter with our young baby and 5 year old.
While juggling the time demands of a young family we loved the ease of being able to walk out the front door and be at the best fly fishing pool or explore the the river trails running and biking in the bush. We can't wait to come back again.

We've rented houses all over the world and Waimarama is truly one of the lovliest. In this case, the words "luxury" and "charming" truly apply - old NZ feel with all the modern comforts. Extremely well appointed kitchen, a working fireplace and fantastic showers and baths. The very helpful owner, Graeme, arranged a fishing guide for us. Terrific fishing right at your doorstep and less than 1/2 hour to the surreally beautiful Tongariro Alpine Crossing - a world class one day hike. would come back every year if Boston weren't so far away.

Exceptionally well equipped and appointed house. A lot of thought has gone in to making sure that everything is provided for a comfortable stay. It makes a very welcome change to the all too often disappointing quality of holiday homes in New Zealand. Warm, comfortable, atmospheric and high quality fittings.

We will definitely be back.

My large family stayed December 2013. Had a fantastic experience. Accommodation was 5 star with all amenities' clean and modern. Loads of extras in the house ie: kitchen fully catered for, internal speakers for music, large table to gather around, library and the gardens are immaculate. We hired the on-site cottage as well which was great for our older son and partner. This was fully self-contained and of equal standard to the main house. The photos on website don't do Waimarama Fishing Lodge justice. We found Turungi a great place to launch our adventures. Kayaked around Taupo, an easy 45min drive, white water rafted up Tongoriro, hired bikes locally to get around the many great hikes and everyday the boys stepped out the front door and fished (hired our rods for a week from a place close by). Locals were friendly and picked up some great art work (reasonably priced) in town. The ladies at the Information Centre were the best. Highly recommend - owners were great to deal with.
