About this Holiday House
Perfectly positioned on a quiet street in National Park Village sits this retrofit three-bedroom, two-storey holiday home, reminiscent of the traditional snow chalets of Europe. Welcome to Mountain Chalet!
On a summer getaway, you’ll be perfectly positioned to enjoy an array of adventure activities. Why not take a trip on Whakapapa’s SkyWaka, the longest vertical gondola ride in New Zealand, and grab a bite to eat at the top where the views are truly unbeatable.
Mountain Chalet offers a large double garage offering one available space for secure parking and storage of all your gear. A large grassy lawn provides parking for a campervan or boat, or just a fun place for the kids to play.
During ski season, Mountain Chalet is cosy and inviting, boasting a wood burning fireplace and all the essentials to make your post-slope activities as enjoyable as your time spent on the mountain.
Sliding glass doors invite the sun to fill the lounge, upstairs bedroom, and front decks, while views of Mt Ruapehu from the rear rooms let you check out the ski conditions before you head out. If you prefer to stay in, there is 6g capacity fibre internet available for your "work from home" needs.
Mountain Chalet is just 20 minutes drive from the ski fields at Whakapapa, and 45 minutes from Turoa’s snowy slopes.
Appointed a UNESCO world heritage site for its cultural landscapes, the Tongariro National Park offers a range of fantastic walks. From short and easy through to long and challenging, whatever you choose you’ll be rewarded with epic views, majestic waterfalls, and breathtaking landscapes.
With your base right in the heart of National Park Village, you’ll have no problem getting information on how to safely set out on the world famous Tongariro Crossing. Not for the faint hearted, this trek will see you traverse an active volcano, and Lord Of The Rings fans will love passing by Mt Ngauruhoe, otherwise known as Mt Doom.
If you’re after a bit of rest and relaxation, this stunning part of New Zealand offers opportunities abound for both individuals and groups. From meditation and mindfulness, to spa treatments and hot springs, you’ll find it all accessible by car.
In the park you’ll also find a selection of cafes, caravans and restaurants, just a 5-minute walk, and just a 10 minute drive away you'll find the Skotel in Whakapapa village, sporting expansive decks, sunset drinks, a great bar menu and casual dining.
A charming base for your year-round National Park adventures awaits, here at Mountain Chalet!
