Lovely, homely spot well out on Peninsula. Peaceful, handy to good eating places in Portobello and the ecoboat tour. 20 mins to railway station if no road works! round the bays. Highlights were the sealion on the beach at rear of property and the large ships gliding almost at the back door! Thanks for your hospitality Robyn.

This was our second stay at Robyn' s Nest. It is a wonderful place to escape to for a relaxing few days. Wonderful for kids too with a lovely beach just over the back fence. We will be back again for sure!

Everything very convenient, really felt like we were on holiday away from the business of life. Thank you Robyn, you were very easy to communicate with, we loved staying at your nest and hope to be back sometime in the near future.

Our escape from Christchurch and it difficulties in January 2013 we consider as our great fortune - coupled as it was with the most restorative , embracing, welcoming and extremely comfortable accommodation that we have experienced for many years. One forgets that real New Zealand is out there.

We explored the coastal geography, We were treat to wandering seals. Clean and Magnificent beaches. Ships that passed in the night and the day.

Thank you Robyn for your part in all of this. We are so appreciative.

Don't want to rave too much as, like some other guests, we would like to go back & not have too much difficulty booking! Great location, definitely blows the cobwebs out but good access to the city if you need it. Sadly we didn't see ANY wildlife at all - no sealions, penguins or albatrosses... must've hit the wrong season. The kids loved the quick walk over the sand dune to the beach & paddling despite the freezing wind! Robyn is such a great host & very friendly and prompt communication. Lovely to have electric blankets & two living areas for rainy days. Highly recommended & really hope we can go back.

The beach is literally 45 seconds away and lovely sand and very safe. About a 25 min drive from main Dunedin, but that is exactly what we wanted. We stayed for 4 nights from 13th to 17th of April. The facilities and accommodation were excellent. The house can be used as a base for trips around the Peninsula bays or going into Dunedin. It is 2 minutes from the Yellow Eyed Penguin Sanctuary (which is a must to see), and 5 minutes from the Taiaroa Heads Albatross Centre and colony. Here you can visit the colony, watch for the adult albatrosses returning from the open ocean, or see the Disappearing Gun and gun emplacements around the Heads. You can relax on the beach at the front of the property, or go kayaking. Port Chalmers is across the bay and you can observe various kinds of shipping sailing past the house at all times of the day or night. The sound of container ships' diesel engines at 4 a.m. and their passage through the shipping lanes at night is truly a memorable experience. A place we would certainly visit again.
