About this Holiday House
The Pear Orchard Lodge is a Gold rated Sustainable Tourism Business (Qualmark rating) that can accommodate up to 20 guests. Enjoy the peaceful self-catering lodge on a working orchard with beautiful sunny rooms, excellent facilities, friendly hosts & amazing views in the heart of the Nelson Tasman region. Ideal for groups, events and individual travellers.
The lodge building accommodates up to 16 people in a mix of ensuite rooms, comfortable double bedrooms and one family room with bunk beds.
For larger groups or if you want spread out a bit more, we also offer our separate self-contained Shearer's Cottage, which could sleep up to 4 more guests. This can be booked separately.
16 people can sleep in the lodge building itself in 7 bedrooms as follows:
- 3 luxurious bedrooms with king sized beds with ensuite bathrooms and balconies. These beds can all be converted to twin beds if you prefer. It is possible to have an additional third bed in two of these ensuite rooms.
- 3 bedrooms with king sized beds which share bathroom facilities. These beds can all be converted to twin beds if you prefer.
- 1 family or bunk room with 3 or 4 bunks or a queen sized bed and two bunks, all of which share the bathroom facilities as well.
There is a large family bathroom (including massive bath) upstairs, and a separate toilet downstairs beside the bunk room.
[NOTE: If you have a large group staying, one of the ensuite bathrooms can be converted to a shared bathroom, which means that in that case there are only 2 ensuite rooms, and the remaining rooms share two full bathrooms and one extra toilet. Please let us know if you require further details.]
The lodge has a unique modern kitchen made from recycled timber, which opens onto a large dining area with huge farmhouse table and a wood burner for the cooler nights.
The kitchen/dining opens onto a large sunny verandah and a great garden with a comfy outdoor lounge area.
There is a large 6 burner BBQ on the verandah, and the verandah is the perfect spot to laze in the sun on a bean bag.
The lodge has Wifi throughout and a stereo in the kitchen/dining area.
While purposely rough and rustic on the outside, the lodge building follows clean lines and is designed to a high spec inside. The design is inspired by the local vernacular and refined to blend in with other outbuildings around the farm.
The building's proportions and exterior interpret the typical old barns seen in the Tasman area with their ramshackle patchwork of old corrugated iron, hand-made carpentry detailing and overhanging roof lines.
We are fairly flexible - no smoking in the lodge, no pets without prior approval.
Generally check in from 2pm and check out by 10am.
As we have a few animals on the farm, we ask that you leave gates as you find them. You are welcome to participate as much or as little as you like with the animals.
