The River House is a beautiful Andy Coltart designed property on the Tuki Tuki River adjacent to the Black Barn River Lodges. With breathtaking 180 degree views down the river and up to the majestic peaks of Mt Kahurankai and Te Mata Peak, the property enjoys all day sunshine. Set within 6 acres including its own vineyard rolling down to the river, the house offers 5 double bedrooms and three shower rooms (one en suite) ; magnificent kitchen with woodburner and a drawing room with open fire; east and west courtyards. The garden boasts a 12m swimming pool (Nov-March) and a large lawn suitable for wedding and marquee events (venue fee extra - see www.theriverhouse.co.nz). The River House is our family home and is furnished as such (as opposed to a corporate rental!) so you will have to excuse personal touches such as photos, etc! Buy a fishing licence and head down to the river to catch dinner (in season) or for the more energetic a walk along the river path or a circuit of the Tuki Tuki Loop bike trail - both on the doorstep. The property is designed for entertaining and outdoor living with two fabulous courtyards always giving a sheltered option if the breeze picks up. This beautiful part of Hawkes Bay offers award winning wineries, with world class cuisine at Craggy Range (3 mins), a bistro vibe at Black Barn (5 mins) and the rustic charm of the eateries at vineyards such as Clearview at Te Awanga (20 mins). The house is child friendly although with the normal risks posed by a swimming pool. Well behaved, small pets permitted by prior arrangement - Sidney our fluffy cat will be in residence - he enjoys sharing his house with you in exchange for his bowl being topped up - no smoking indoors.
