An amazing house, perfectly situated on the Tongariro River with access to an array of both peaceful and energetic activities. The owner's attention to detail is absolute. With an interior and garden fit to grace a house and garden magazine, the house is beautifully designed to optimise the indoor outdoor flow regardless of the season. We arrived to find the outdoor fireplace laid ready to blaze with one match. Ample breakfast supplies were provided, including the owner's own delicious homemade muesli and marmalade. For those wanting to just chill in this calm oasis there are books and games and even a bridge table available. We combined quiet times with an energetic 3 hour hike up Mt Urchin (20 minute drive away), a 2 hr cycle round the Tongariro river trail (bikes available for hire across at the Turangi Shopping Centre) and a 1 hour scenic walk around Lake Rotopounamu. The trout fishing, golf and white water rafting will be for next time. What a magic spot.

Definitely five stars! This house is high end luxury. We are nearing the end of a three month trip throughout New Zealand and this was tied for first of the best houses of 17 that we have rented on this trip. We stayed at houses that cost more to rent but none were nicer. The location was also great with fishing right out the back door. Highly recommend this house and we will certainly be back!
