We stayed at Ann's bach for couple of nights, and we are so glad we chose this place. We fell in love with the bach right away, with its to-die-for ocean views from the lounge and the bedroom. The architecture was very interesting. Being a musician, my partner found the inside of the bach acoustically favourable, whilst playing his guitar. It was just at the right distance from the Cape Palliser lighthouse and the seal colony (we didn't even have to take the car). Evenings were very special. Due to its isolated location, it was excellent for stargazing. The lounge had huge windows that we could sit in the dark watching the stars, spot shooting stars, and occasional lightning; all this while the fire was crackling away. Watching the snow on the Kaikoura mountains early in the morning was beautiful, as well as waking up to the sound of the waves crashing on the beach, spotting wild bunnies hopping through the bush, and several quails marching along. The bach had everything we needed (especially good firewood to get the fire going) to make our stay relaxing and enjoyable. If you need to get away from the ho-hum of life and unwind, this is the place to come to. We will definitely be recommending this bach to our friends & family, and hope to return in the future. This was the best holiday home we had stayed in EVER..... and we have stayed in quite a few holiday homes. The views, the location, the surrounding area ~ everything outside was fantastic, especially the seal colony! An absolute must see! And the inside of the house, well, it's just beautiful and warm and beds are soooooo comfortable! This was the starting point of our holiday and we really loved it. Thanks for sharing!

Our second time staying at the Gray Bach and we love the combination of the stunning and wild South Wairarapa Coast and the sleek luxury of the bach. So warm throughout, once you get the fire cranking and a great kitchen for cooking. Best of all is the scenery and you don't even need to leave the bach to see it as it is all there in front of you. We saw the snowy Kaikouras when we last stayed in October. I am sure we will be back and have recommended to family and friends!

This is the second time we have stayed at the Gray Bach and we love both the rugged and beautiful coastal outlook and the sleek, sophisticated architecture that is the Gray Bach! The sun streamed in through the kitchen/back area for a good part of the day and the fire box warms the whole house come night time. Walking, biking, climbing, viewing - it is all there for the taking...or just chilling with a nice bottle of wine and a plate of your favourite kai! The kitchen is well equipped for catering needs.
