The Four main attractions very close by are the Lighthouse with it's massive flight of steps. Kupes Sail - with it's historical Maori Legends. The Seal Colony - a natural environment right beside the road on the way to the Lighthouse inhabited all year round and Ngawi Village with its 9 hole golf course and array of old bulldozers used to haul in the fishing boats. Behind our coastal home is the Haurangi Forest Park - walking access via the Mangatoetoe stream. (The bridge just prior to getting to our house.) A 20 min drive back towards Lake Ferry are the Putangirua Pinnacles - created by many hundreds of years of erosion. More recently a site used briefly in the making of the 'Lord of the Rings' movies.
A perfect place for anyone who is 'outdoorsy' and likes surfing, diving, mountain biking etc or equally satisfying for those who simply want to 'blob out' in front of the fire with a good book having already checked out the wonderful views.
