About this Holiday House

Located on the historic site of the first hotel in the area, this waters edge property is handy (5mins walk)to all Mangonui village facilities (great fishing wharf, world Famous F&Cs, cafes and pub) It is a sheltered property with a view to the horizon through the Mangonui Heads. It has a carport and offroad parking for the boat which can be launched at the all weather boat ramp 200 meters away.

Great indoor - outdoor living with priceless view. Resident Tuis and visiting wood pigeons. Visit our Facebook page SettlersDream for more photos and updates and to see the hand written comments in the visitors book. Please note that the WC is not within the 4 walls of the main building, but 2 steps down and 2 steps to the door of the adjoining lean to, all well out of the weather. Anyone with disability or who needs the loo in the night a lot should consider this. It is however part of what makes a classic Kiwi Bach.

Best selection of windsurf and kite surfing beaches in the country nearby. East and westcoast surf within 30 mins drive. Great fishing around Doubtless Bay with all weather boat ramp 100 metres away. 5 minute walk to best Fish and Chips in the country (if you don't catch your own) and some great cafes.

Wow, this is one of the best places you can stay if you are looking for some peace and quiet and a no frills good old fashioned Kiwi holiday. This house is just right in terms of size for our family of four. We had ample space to park our boat and its walking distance to the boat ramp so its was very convenient. It is tucked away so its quiet yet you can walk down to the next bay and get a coffee or pop into a restaurant or pub. We loved it so much we lost track of time and every day seemed like a new adventure. Highly recommend both the house and hosts.

If it is luxury you are looking for, this is not the place for you. Settlers Dream is a classic Kiwi bach, with outside toilet to boot (it is only a short step out the back door, under cover). However it is in a good location and has great views over the bay. It is cosy and has all the amenities you need. We spent five nights there in October 2018 and loved our stay. Sitting on the deck in the evening with a wine/beer is a great way to end a day exploring the area. If we return Mangonui we will certainly look at staying there again. Sandra & Dave, Christchurch
