This property is rather tired and is in need of some attention - curtains/painting. It fell short of other Omapere/Opononi homes that we have rented for the same value. Our group of 4 retired elderly people found the steps between areas difficult when moving about especially at night. The property does have good facilities including two showers, two toilets, great beds, a lovely downstairs lounge looking out towards the Hokianga Harbour entrance and a well equipped kitchen.

Amazing, amazing, amazing... absolute beachfront but totally private. Loved sitting on the deck watching the sunset over the beautiful Hokianga harbour and then falling asleep listening to the sound of the gentle waves crashing on the beach. Loved waking up to the view of all views and enjoying a morning walk along the beach. Very comfortable beds. Great kitchen with everything that you need. The showers were bliss with excellent water pressure. I would definitely be staying again. Thank you for a weekend getaway to remember.

Such an amazing place to stay. So amazing to be have the beach literally ten steps away. Comfy beds and couches, I loved the way the place was set up, it felt like a real batch! You can spend the whole day in your togs and just wander back and forth from the house to the beach, we were in and out of the ocean all day. Weather was raining for one night but so nice to curl up inside with blankets and a book and listen to the ocean going wild outside.
Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to get out of the city, you feel like you are in a whole other place.

Spent a wonderful weekend away from the city, right on the beach! Had a great time fishing in the morning, then tramping through the kauri forests in the afternoon. Great place to stay with many different activies readily available.

Had a fantastic stay! Went with my whole family incuding lots of little kids- it was amazing to not have to try and organise everyone to get to the beach because it was right there via your own private access! Perfect for a busy family with a lot of people wanting to do different things. The serperate apartments was an awesome arrangement to let us without kids to sleep in while the parents woke early with their little ones, also worked great when we wanted to stay up late for a beer without keeping up the kids.
We went on a short boat ride over to the dunes and walked the top and then slid down them on boogie boards.
Already planning to return-could definitely see it becoming an annual tradition!

Stayed for a week and absolutely loved it! Even though it was the middle of winter (so not exactly swimming weather) it was a great place to relax and unwind and you are literally right on the beach (with a great private walk way down to the water/beach). Very private, we hardly saw another person the whole time. Maria was so helpful, made sure we had everything we needed and gave us great tips of things to do in the area. My family and I will certainly be coming for another stay. Thanks Mark!

Good Weather / Bad Weather - Omapere Opanoni is a special place. Beach Place is an absolute delight in all forms to enjoy and experience this special location. With water lapping at the end of the footpath, sunsets streaming straight into the large floor-to-ceiling windows across the Hokianga Bay, a private beach to walk and enjoy - I would have to rate this as my top 2 locations in the entire country. Comfortable interior and utilities can allow for families, groups of mates, couples to relax in their own beach-house, not feeling guilty about bringing sand onto the porch or balcony, but rather to have fun inside and out.
Don't think anymore about trying this out, just do it - you'll be back just like I have over 6 times. :-)

Appalling place to stay in poor weather - were in "apartment" for 2 ,so no washing machine - had to ask for access. Horrible shower. Furnished by Salvation Army ,I presume ,with complete Encyclopaedia Brittanica and unusable coffee table as loaded with books and junk. Grubby furniture and torn curtains. Bed shook when lorry went by on adjacent highway. Poor service - had gone out for the day and on return found out that there had been a power cut for 3 hours - it continued which made the all electric bach unusable - no heating/cooking /lighting facilities. No support from manager Maria so had to move before nightfall to nearby motel which had a generator and told that power cuts common. Maria and ownwer refused to give refund for that night as said that we did not inform them in time although Maria lives in same village and had made no attempt to contact us and tell us of the problem - it was very cold and wet and the accommodation (at $150 a night!!) was unuseable. Don't stay in this awful dump - try Bellovista at Ahipara - only $15 more but beautiful place, better views and fantastic hostess with full service/garbage removal etc. What a contrast. The Ultimate beachfront property to stay in (who needs to go to the islands for a summer holiday by the sea!) - definitly great for families and most certainly a romantic paradise for a couple - all the privacy you could wont, sleeping to the sound of the waves with doors and windows open and a gorgeous sea breeze, biggest private swimming pool ever at front door (ocean), dinner for two on the deck with the barby and the most scenic view two people could wont, a night sky that just has to be seen to be believed, everything is walking distance either via the sandy beach or the road. Great eating places in Omapere and Oponi that we did not have to book for and the service is wickedly friendly. Definitly a place to stay in for longer than a week or two. We both imagined a winter stay here as well - the place is definitly set up for it with the best views made possible by the large windows and set up of this home.
We loved it and definilty hope to get back summer or winter.
Thank you to Maria and George for you excellent hospitality and to Mark. Kind Regards
Maria and Dan
