Beautiful, peaceful location near a reserve - and not far to the lake. Everything you need for a family time (or couple time as we had). Relaxing, fun evenings playing card and board games (supplied). Even in the middle of winter the place was lovely and warm with the heat pump. We had a wonderful relaxing few days there with our dogs. The fencing was not up to our escape artists standards - suit a dog who doesnt jump.. Aside from that, this place was perfect. Would recommend. And we hope to be back one day.

9 of us stayed here for an extended Queens Birthday weekend family get together. We ranged in age from 16 to 76. We were all comfortably accommodated here and there was plenty of room in the living area which opens out onto a fantastic sunny outdoor area. The house is cheerfully decorated and a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities are provided. The kitchen is very well equipped and we had no trouble producing gourmet meals for nine. The location is great, right next to a reserve and only a short walk to the lake. Don't worry about going in winter as there is a very efficient heat pump and panel heaters in the sleepouts. A great property for a lovely relaxing stay at beautiful Lake Tarawera.

FF is a lovely little place, warm and cosy and well appointed and having the reserve just next door was great for frisbee/football and anything else my son could throw at me. Lake Tarawera is beautiful, particularly at sunset and also by the light of a full moon. As a meticulous travel researcher I really appreciated the information board - exactly what I would do if I were renting out a holiday place. We would love to come back one day, perhaps in warmer weather, so could kayak and get out on the lake - maybe when the Tawarewa Trail is completed?

We had such a fabulous stay at the fidgety fantail. Great Bach in a great location for exploring. It was winter when we stayed but the heat pump keeps the Bach really warm and cosy and the sun heated it up nicely through the daytime. Lots of space outside for our youngest to run around and we enjoyed feeding the birds and watching them!
The Bach had everything we needed and was super clean. We loved the quirky decor and the window seat and spent a lovely afternoon out on the fat pigeon on Lake Tarawera with Mike and Liz.
Caroline and Martin, who own the bach, were so accommodating at short notice and we will definitely book again.

Excellent value for a peaceful and relaxing spot.

This house is a perfect relaxing holiday destination, so much so we are reluctant to share it. This was our second stay and the house is perfect for a family get together. The close proximity of the Cheeky Tui makes this a great place to gather for a holiday. Gorgeous Lake Tarawera is just a short walk and we had visits from wood pigeons and a beautiful morepork! The kayaks were awesome on the smooth lake and facilities were like a home away from home! We will definitely be coming back again next year!
