About this Holiday House

We have a holiday home available which comfortably sleeps 6 people. We are situated on the dress circle above Half Moon Bay, the view back across Foveaux Straight is spectacular. We are only a 5 minute walk from the ferry terminal and the Oban township and a 3 minute walk to Bathing Beach. We provide all linen and courtesy transport to and from the ferry terminal or Flight Centre. Come and relax in this delightful setting and enjoy Stewart Island at its best.

Wonderful views over Foveaux Strait, Easy 5 minute walk to ferry terminal and township, Wood fire which easily warms the house making making it cosy and comfortable even in the Winter.

Special Attractions and Activities Nearby

Stewart Island offers walks for all different fitness levels and ability ranges where one can enjoy our bush, birdlife and scenery. There are several easy walking tracks within Oban varying from 10 minutes to 3 hours. Of the short walks one of the most popular would be Observation Rock, giving stunning views of Paterson Inlet and amazing sunsets. Longer walks include Golden Bay to Deep Bay, Ackers Point track for coastal vistas, Horseshoe Bay track, Maori Beach track and the popular Ryans Creek track. Several charter operators targeting mainly Blue Cod offer either half or full day charters and supply all rods, reels, hand lines and equipment. The catch is shared between those fishing. Fishing is allowed off wharves and jetties and catching spotties gives children hours of fun. Ulva Island is a close off shore predator free bird sanctuary and a very special place to visit.

We were a group of 5 that stayed 4 nights. House was spacious, clean and had everything we needed when the weather forced us indoors. Beautiful view. Good communication and helpful host.

Great house, very comfy with fantastic views, and a short downhill walk to town. A typical Stewart Island home. Loved sitting out on the front deck having my coffee watching the boats. Shower pressure is very strong so helps to make for a quick shower to conserve water. Beds were comfy and we were so warm we removed a few layers.

Lovely, comfy home with great views over Half Moon Bay. Nice to sit outside too and enjoy the view from the deck.. Great location, being a very short walk to the town. Owner was very helpful and easy to communicate with, and provided transport from the wharf to the house.and back. Highly recommended.
