Braemar is a working station, farming perendale sheep, beef cattle and deer. Dry air, hot summers and cold, crisp winters with vast and spectacular views of Mt Cook, the Southern Alps and Lake Pukaki. The lake offers good trout fishing, boating and numerous picnic spots off the beaten track. There are great farm tracks for mountain biking and walking. We are 30 mins from Tekapo, 40 mins from Twizel and 1 hour from The Hermitage, Mt Cook.
We are only 1 hour from Round Hill, Dobson and Ohau ski fields so an ideal place to base yourself for a winter family skiing holiday.

Well what can we say to adequately describe our recent experience at this property? Our party of 5 adults stayed here for 2 nights (wish it had been for longer!), and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house has fantastic views over Lake Pukaki and the snow capped mountains, which we could have sat and gazed at all day (and night) long. We were blessed with the weather and were able to make full use of the BBQ and outdoor seating area, for breakfast lunch and tea.
There is comfortable seating in the lounge with a T.V. if you can bare to take your eyes away from the view! There is a large dining table and chairs. The kitchen was well provisioned for cooking too. (Take your own food, as it is a long drive to the nearest town if you have forgot something!) There were 3 bedrooms, 1 double/queen reached through a room with twin beds and a separate twin room off the living area. There is a separate toilet and shower room with laundry facilities.
There are other accommodation options at the station, but all are separate and private from each other.
We drove to Lake Tekapo whilst staying and whilst it was nice there, we were so glad to return to "our own Lake" afterwards to cook a Salmon for tea from the Mt Cook Fisheries.
The owner was very prompt in answering queries and the booking process was seamless. Everyone we met at the property were very courteous and friendly.
Overall an excellent property to wind down at and just spend time in this fantastic part of the world. We would definitely recommend this property to others and hope to return one day.

Just magic - some of the most stunning scenery on earth. Log fire made the cottage really cosy, and Julia was friendly and helpful. An absolute gem of a place!

Superb stay. We were made to feel so welcome on this beautiful farm - a real bit of Paradise. We don't cycle, fish or any other popular pastime, we just enjoyed the area and views. Would definitely recommend to others

Stunning location, very comfy new bed, good facilities and quirky homely feel. Great price too, and a lovely retreat from the busy world. Would definitely come back.

Lovely and clean and it was wonderful to get the log fire, made us miss home. We think we have found our newest "most favourite place to stay" . Couple of weeks next time. :)

Pine Cottage has the most exceptional, expansive views of the lake and mountains, no other word but spectacular!! We were treated to the most incredible sunrises and sunsets, we felt privileged to witness such amazing, changing scenery. Pine Cottage itself is cosy, relaxing and maintains the character of its past by clever renovation. Judith and Hamish were great hosts, very interesting to learn of the farm's history. Would love to return on our next trip to NZ.

Comfortable, tranquil, relaxing, with everything we needed and some of the most beautiful views imaginable. The perfect place for our last nights in New Zealand. On the last night we bought a fresh whole salmon at the salmon farm and cooked it in the cottage - oh boy - died and went to heaven. Can't wait to come back and stay longer.

The views are just spectacular, and the endless garden around us was excellent for the kids to play around in.

Best place we've stayed in during our 6-month trip around the country
