Two Tides floats on a private bush-edged north-facing site on the fringes of the Parapara estuary in beautiful Golden Bay. Designed by award-winning Nelson architect Min Hall and Arthouse Architecture, it is beautifully positioned and built for all-day sun. Elegant and stylish, compact yet uncluttered, it is furnished to high standards of quality and comfort. It will appeal to those who appreciate the finer things in life – even when they have sand between their toes.

Glass joinery doors open onto decks to the north and east to expand the living space on warm days. Double-glazed and fully insulated, it also has a Warmington Studio Woodburner/Oven and an oil column heater for to ensure toasty winter warmth.

Located in Parapara Beach Road, it is a few minutes drive from the famous Mussel Inn at Onekaka and, equally, a short distance by car from the Courthouse Café, shops, the pub and Rosy Glow chocolates in Collingwood. It is an ideal situation from which to explore the many attractions Golden Bay has to offer: from Farewell Spit and Wharariki Beach to Pupu Springs and Wainui Falls. Or to rest up after one of the many tramps the area offers including, of course, the Heaphy Track. It boasts a number of artists’ and potters’ studios in the near vicinity including Tim Jessup, Anatoth, Rinopai, Estuary Arts, Margaret Maloney and Paul Winspear, among others. Windsurfing and kayaking is popular on the estuary and boards and boats can be hired from a neighbouring local boating trust.

Golden Bay is celebrated for its beaches – Parapara beach is a mere 200-metre stroll – for its isolation and wild beauty, its wildlife and birds, its original and vibrant arts scene, its off-beat but compelling eateries, and the friendliness of its people. Two Tides is ideally placed for an introduction to all of these. But it is also the perfect, peaceful bach in which to curl up with a good book and admire the view.

Minimum booking in peak summer season is for 4 nights; 3 nights in shoulder and 2 for low season stays. (Some variation might be possible -- contact owner/manager). Extra guest pricing refers to adults -- children under 18 are half extra guest cost (ie $10 per night) for low, shoulder and high seasons respectively.

The master bedroom has a Queen bed and the second bedroom twin singles (which can be joined together to make a King bed)

Two Tides is not very suitable for young children; a ladder to a mezzanine 'storage loft' is a dangerous temptation for children under about 4 or 5.

In certain circumstances, Two Tides might accommodate an additional one or two persons. Apply to the owner/manager for details.

Such a beautiful area and wonderfully positioned house. We loved being able to go out first thing and kayak in the estuary behind the house, followed by a short walk to Parapara beach where you will find the most amazingly beautiful rocks. The estuary was perfect for our kids to kayak in as it wasn't too deep and held their interest for quite a while as there were all sorts of things to explore. There is a playground not far from the beach as well, a five minute walk, if you have kids. The house itself is very thoughtfully designed and furnished. It has everything you need, and the views out every window are just spectacular and ever changing. The fire was also a real treasure, as we visited in the rainy part of Spring, and this made any dreary weather absolutely cozy and treasured. We will definitely be returning to this property for it's closeness to town, beautiful beach and kayaking opportunities. The owners are very friendly to deal with as well.
