Our family rented this lovely Victoria Cottage and annex so we could both help and attend my grand daughter and her fiance's wedding at the Victoria Hall in Waikino. The cottage setting and surrounds are quite unique, the service from Carole and Rod was amazing because of course we forgot things, needed others we hadn't thought of. We will go back as a family again, purely on the experience we had there this first time.

Love, love, loved the Cottage and Gardens! Beds were super comfy and Cottage Kitchen was filled with all the necessities we needed for our stay. Hardly saw the kids at all as they were enthralled with the garden bush tracks, bridges, huts and had so much fun feeding the eels. A huge thankyou to the awesome hosts Rod and Carol, we will definitely be back to stay again and will be recommending this place to any friends heading that way.

So many places close by to keep you busy or sit in the sunny garden to read, what a lovely spot and lovely surroundings. We can't say enough how much we enjoyed our stay, came home feeling like I had actually relaxed. Thank you Carol and Rod, you made us feel so welcome.

Victoria Cottage is the most beautiful, peaceful spot I have been to in a long time. The gardens are absolutely magical with a huge array of different flowers blooming in complete harmony with the surroundings. There is a stunning pond & stream to walk around, and many little paths to follow that kept our children entertained for hours. The accomodation is immaculate with modern furnishings and a beautiful outlook onto the garden.
Nearby there is so much to do with the NZ Cycle track right on your doorstep. We walked from the accomodation to the old gold mine in 20 minutes and the kids loved the miniature train ride. The highlight was the Karangahaki Gorge walk. It took 90 minutes and the views were spectacular. Part of it passes through the old train tunnel which takes 15 minutes to walk through and had the kids so excited! It is flat to walk on, lit, and relatively dry. The history of the region is well detailed along the walk. The main carpark at the north end of the gorge is the ideal place to start the loop walk with a fantastic cafe across the road (Talisman cafe) perfect for when you finish and need to eat.
We highly recommend Victoria Cottage and couldn't ask for more nicer hosts than Carol & Rod!

This place is gorgeous. Right in the heart of Karangahake - the kids loved the night echo fest walk through the gorge and train ride and yesterday we went to the mosaic garden in Waihi as you recommended - it was fantastic - she has made a bog garden (mosaic toilets potted with plants) and a tea tree (of tea sets and tea pots) and has an array of animals - peahens, a pet morepork and takes the kids to feed the eels. Stopped at Ohinemuri winery on the way home - food and wine was great - beautiful spot. Really comfortable home, lovely linen and great breakfast in the morning. Very hospitable hosts who went out of their way to help us re activities. Had your golden delicious apples yesterday - yum! Thank you so much - we had such a great time and wish you all the best with your venture in your little piece of paradise.

Thanks Carol and Rob for a lovely stay. We really enjoyed our January break. Our hosts were very attentive without being intrusive and we enjoyed the garden as though it was our own. The surrounding area is great for walking and there is a great new bistro within a short walk or drive. Carol has lots of information about the surrounding areas for things to do.
We will be back for a repeat visit next time there is another golf tournament for us.
