We stumbled upon Mairenui while looking for a spot close to Wellington to cater for nine young adults visiting New Zealand. We stayed in the villa and it was absolutely perfect! Beautiful old and unique building with tonnes of character on a big open section looking out over the valley. We did the white water kayaking up the road and loved it - spent the days out in the sun on the lawn and the evenings drinking around the fire. Sue and David were so welcoming and accommodating - we will definitely be back.

We loved staying at the Villa! David and Sue were very welcoming; we had everything we needed for a relaxing family farm holiday. An added bonus were friendly farm animals, the new foals and hand-feeding the lamb. We enjoyed the croquet, petanque, tree climbing, toasting marshmallows on the open fire and playing board games. Definitely recommend for folk looking for a little taste of laid-back country life.

The majority of my family and their families found the Mairenui Villa fantastic. Lots to do so that you don't need to go on day trips. Beautiful spacious setting. The walking bridge to the river is a treat for the adventurous. For those who need shops and cafe's, Taihape is not far away. Sue and David were very helpful and friendly to all.
