It was a lovely house directly located by the beautiful Lake Tekapo with comfortable beds and thermal blankets. The room had large French windows, allowing us to easily enjoy the lake view. The sky was astonishing and visible right from the front yard. However, there were two issues we encountered. Firstly, the check-in time was limited to 2 pm to 6 pm, with no self-check-in option. This could be challenging as in New Zealand, many activities are weather-dependent and may affect your pre-arranged arrival times. Secondly, upon check-in, the host advised us to park the car under shade to avoid sun exposure, which we understood. However, when we returned from dinner later that night, it was already pitch black. We temporarily parked the car next to the shaded area to grab our jackets before heading to a stargazing tour since the shaded area had two pillars in the front and we were driving a large van, parking was a bit difficult. About five minutes later, the host knocked on the door and requested us to move the car under the shade, explaining that the grassland was slippery and could potentially damage the wall, incurring a fixing fee. While we understood the concern, it would have been helpful to receive this information earlier to prevent the situation. Additionally, a phone call from the host prior to the visit would have been preferable to being approached directly. But still, it was a beautiful place to stay.
