Extremely well appointed it has a spacious interior with a fully equipped kitchen and large decks for sunbathing, sipping local wine or watching the sunset.

The two large bedrooms both have fully tiled ensuite bathrooms and very comfortable Queen size beds.
When only 1 couple wish to stay we close off the second bedroom but all other listed amenities are available.
Set on 6 acres high above Onetangi Bay the surrounding gardens are extensively landscaped & native birdsong is a bonus for you to enjoy.
Positioned on one of Waiheke's highest points the views are breathtaking.
Northfacing with all day sun it is very warm even during the winter months.
This accommodation can also be booked in conjunction with Nikau Apartment One or The Nikau Loft for extended family or wedding groups.
Onetangi Beach is only 5 minutes by car and has 2 Cafes. There are also several vineyards in the vicinity.

The apartment is accessed by private road through a pine forest and has ample parking for 2 cars.

For art lovers there is an onsite Art Gallery selling the owners own work alongside selected New Zealand artisans.

Well, it's now April 2015 and we have just completed our annual 3 months stay at The Nikau - we have stayed here for 7 years because we found nothing with such comfortable and relaxing accommodation and views. We have visited Waiheke a total of 10 times since 2004.... why? … our daughter and family live on the island.

This is a superb well-appointed holiday home (it’s not an apartment it is a stand-alone architect-designed beautiful glass-walled heaven) with its STUNNING VIEWS that stretch from Rangitoto Island and the North Shore mainland in the west to the Coromandel Peninsula, Great Barrier Island and (almost) South America to the east.

There is no wider view from a rental property on Waiheke ...... I have enjoyed watching cruise liners and large merchant ships crossing the ocean to and from Auckland.. and with the occasional glass of wine in my hand.

You may wonder why I am writing so much about a place that we have loved staying at so many times….. thus taking the risk of somebody else booking it. Well, in future we will not be block-booking Nikau Apartment Two for 3 months each summer (Kiwi summer) but instead we will be staying at our daughter’s place on the headland at the other end of beautiful Onetangi Beach where a large and well-appointed self-contained annex is nearing completion.

SO BE QUICK and you could be staying in Nikau Apartment Two next summer… just remember it is not a simple apartment, it is a super holiday home with no immediate neighbours.

I wish you hours of enjoyment on Waiheke and thank Sue & Gus for their great hospitality.

My wife and I have been visiting Waiheke since 2004 so know it well and have done much research of holiday accommodation there.

In 2008 we discovered The Nikau Eastate with main villa and 2 holiday apartments. We have seen many holiday properties but feel Nikau offers the best in terms of quality, tranquility and privacy.

The apartments are actually architect designed modern homes, very spacious and very well equipped. They are sited on a hill looking down over farmland to Onetangi beach with wide views of the Hauraki Gulf and Coromandel peninsula. The approach is via a private track through a pine forest on the estate.

We have always stayed in the 2-bedroomed Apartment 2 as we sometimes have family visiting but Apartment 1 is equally well equipped, has an equally private and tranquil setting also with amazing views.. the same great quality just 1 bedroom instead of 2.

The Nikau is set on the edge of Onetangi so is in easy reach of the best beach on Waiheke and all the great wineries.

The supermarket at Ostend is a 5 minutes drive, the car ferry at Kennedy Point is 10 minutes and Oneroa, the main township of waiheke, is just 15 minutes away. This means that at the peak holiday season The Nikau is conveniently close to all the action yet far enough away to ensure you enjoy the island without the crowds disturbing your view or your sleep.
