A little piece of comfort and nostalgia. The little cottage is well appointed, and located within a very picturesque setting. The park like grounds are lovely and ideal for active kids wanting to explore (we only had the one). There is also a lovely BBQ area which I wish I'd taken advantage of, maybe next time. Our hosts were friendly and welcoming.
The cottage is a show piece of memorabilia, and the craftsmanship of the owner. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

I stayed here on Good Friday as part of completing the Great Taste Trail with some friends. We received a warm welcome by both hosts. Dunpuffin is a hidden treasure with exceptional hosts who met all our needs and more. We were greeted with a warm welcome, and freshly cooked peanut brownies. This was followed by top quality home grown produce and meat to cook a barbeque, and the provision of a superb homemade crumble. There were a selection of wines and beers to choose from (at very reasonable cost). and bacon and eggs for breakfast. The cupboards were well stocked with everything we needed, and we were able to make sandwiches to keep us going for the next days ride - totally valued given there were no cafes for some distance!. Not having to worry about these things as cyclists and travelling on a public holiday is priceless. As for the accommodation itself, it is set in a beautiful country setting, with a tranquil and peaceful garden, with a lovely pond. As a "railway child" having lived in railway houses and grown up around trains, I loved staying in the carriage and the attention to detail in the cottage. Staying at Dunpuffin you get genuine hospitality by great hosts at exceptional value - especially compared to some of the motorcamp cabin fees. I highly recommend the railway cottages. They are exceptional value and exceptional hosts. Attentive without being obtrusive. I'm astounded these cottages aren't booked out every night. They deserve to be. I definitely plan to revisit. For cyclists this accommodation is 3km off the main ride, but this will possibly be the best 3km you ride to stay at these cottages.
