Cross the Picton Marina footbridge and you’ll find a network of walking routes — Harbour View Track, Bob’s Bay Walk, The Snout — ranging from 10 minutes to a few hours through bush and coastal scenery.
Tirohanga Track
A favourite local climb. The trailhead is just a short stroll from town; in about 30–45 minutes (round trip) you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views over Picton, Waikawa and the Sounds beyond.
Picton ? Waikawa Track
For a more extended walk or gentle challenge, this track connects Picton Marina with Waikawa Marina in a loop (or out-and-back), taking ~1.5–2 hours return.
Queen Charlotte Track
A world-famous multi-day trail in the Marlborough Sounds, with boat-drop options making day-walk segments accessible from Picton.
Kaipupu Wildlife Sanctuary
Want a peaceful bush escape? A short water taxi from Picton takes you to this predator-free sanctuary with a 2.7 km circular forest walk.
? Marine, Town & Ferry Access
Picton Marina / Foreshore & Waterfront
You’re just a few minutes from the marina and waterfront. Wander among yachts, launch a kayak, or sit in cafés along London Quay with views of the Sound.
Town Centre & Shops
All the essentials — cafes, restaurants, visitor information (i-SITE), and quirky boutiques — are within a comfortable walking distance.
Ferry Terminal / Interislander
While I can’t source an exact walking distance from 43 Hampden Street to the ferry terminal, Picton’s ferry hub is a central landmark, and the property’s proximity to town means it’s a short drive or walk.
Whale Trail (long-distance walking / cycling route)
For those wanting to stretch their legs further, the Whale Trail will eventually link Picton to Kaikoura. Sections are already open and in use.
