Places to visits and shops distance from our property: ~ Cape Reinga Lighthouse/Te Rerenga Wairua in the Northland Region of the North Island of New Zealand, built in 1941 stands 165m above sea level (1 hour drive). ~ Te Paki Giant Sand Dunes around 150m high, huge and gorgeous golden sand (54 mins drive). ~ Spirits Bay/Piwhane is a remote bay at the northern end of the Aupouri Peninsula, which forms the northern tip of New Zealand's North Island (1hr 6mins drive). ~ Henderson Bay is a bay on the Aupouri Peninsula, near the very top of the North Island in New Zealand. Henderson Bay is popular for surfing (21mins drive). ~ Rarawa Beach is a beach break on a sandy beach, located at the southern end of Great Exhibition Bay on the east coast of Northland (21mins drive). ~ Ninety Mile Beach is a famous long stretch of coastline in the Far North of New Zealand's North Island, actually measuring 88 kilometers (55 miles) in length. Directions turn to Whalers Road - Hukatere Road - 90 Mile Road (15mins drive). You can drive on low tide in Ninety Mile Beach (recommended 4WD). ~ Gumdiggers park is an authentic, preserved gumfield over 100 years old and tells the story of early settlers extracting kauri gum ( NZ Amber) from Northern New Zealand. Ancient Kauri trees buried in the ground by still unknown natural events can be seen, one tree discovered in 2011 is around 120,000 years old (13mins drive).
