About this Holiday House

Modern, contemporary beach house located at the stunning Langs Beach, a stretch of Pohutkawa lined white sand beach located between Mangawhai and Waipu Cove. The beach house is approximately 1 hour 20min drive north of Auckland. Awesome sea views with an easy 300m downhill stroll to the beach. There is an island bench kitchen flowing into an open plan lounge dining area with plenty of places to relax this flows out onto a large partially covered deck with outdoor dining a covered couches and barbeque area There are several excellent restaurants close by and interesting places to explore in nearby Mangawhai and Waipu. If it’s wet the movies in Whangarei are only 30mins away This house is a New Zealand holiday home and is used regularly used by the family. As such you will find items of personal use in the bathroom vanities, and food left in the freezer. There are board games books and videos in the lounge which you are welcome to use There is a TV and upon which you can view Netflix but there is no Sky. There is a heat pump for cooler nights, high speed broadband is connected If you are looking for minimalist five star empty hotel room environment this is not it. Please don’t take it upon yourselves to rearrange the contents of drawers and or furniture. As Langs Beach is so close to Auckland it’s an easy weekend getaway, perfect for two or three couples or a family with children

Email sent to Owner & holiday houses in January 2021... never received a response... Just following up with email as discussed last week. Workaround, propping the oven door closed with the broom handle worked a treat, thanks! As discussed, location and views are amazing, however there were a number of things we found were not in keeping with your holiday home advertised and/or renting a property for 8 nights, for 7 people for $2890… * Kitchen and dining table not cleaned, along with other area * Floor not cleaned. As discussed we tried the vacuum but it didn’t really worked – tried cleaning filter too, but didn’t make too much difference - ended up sweeping (see photo) * Cutlery & BBQ we had to clean before use (see attached) * I've attached photo of nespresso & fan as example of items advertised available for use / not cleaned * Came across two maggots when cleaning on arrival (one pictured) – one in the lounge and one by the entrance to hallway. * Broken glass on the deck which our 5 year old found, thankfully didn't hurt anyone (one if the pieces in the picture of what was swept up attached) * The fridge was perfect however there was only enough space for a couple of things in the freezer after we removed ice trays and ice packs (photo attached of how we found the freezer). As we’d booked / bought food for 7 people for 8 nights, we ended up having to use our chillibin for the week. * No spare cupboard / drawer space for any of our food in the kitchen, so we ended up having to keep everything in boxes / bags on the bench / dining table * No space in bathrooms for items – either in drawers, or to simply hang our toilet bags. As discussed we've booked / stayed in holiday homes, bach's etc. for near on 40 years now, so understand they're people's homes and things of their's etc are left, this is no issue & is expected. We too have rented out our properties over the year. Living out of suitcases, boxes, chillibins & toilet bags we do often too when we’re camping, so again used to this standard of holiday, if that's what's booked. When you’re advertising a holiday home though, at a high premium of $360/night, at the very least the basics should be offered and none of the above occur. I’ve never stayed at a property where you have to clean on arrival and are expected to pay for it to be cleaned upon your departure also. I too have not taken photos and/or sent an email post staying at a property. However after discussing the above with you last week, to have no apology and response of ‘you’re sick of people complaining about your holiday house, which is why you no longer rent it’, and that you only ‘honored our booking as a courtesy to us?’ was quite a shock! It would've been a bigger courtesy to apologies, and advise from yourselves and/or holiday houses, that you did have complaints like above in the past, as we trusted your site as offering accommodation as specified, and that for $360/night you were now just renting out your holiday home as is, not set up for people to rent, and to expect issues like above! Thanks
