About this Holiday House
LOCATION:
Castle Hill Village is situated at over 700m in the Southern Alps, with 360 degrees of mountain scenery and four skifields close by. Attractions in the area include forest walks, mountain biking, tramping, trout fishing, caving, rock climbing, canoeing, rafting, boating or you can just relax! The Village has a tennis court, a petanque court and a very rustic (short!) golf course.
Situated 100km (1 hour) west of Christchurch on Highway 73 towards the West Coast, Castle Hill Village is in the Craigieburn Range area between Lake Lyndon and Lake Pearson. It is an alpine - styled village consisting of houses and sections.
To date, there is no commercial development in the village, so you need to take all your petrol/food supplies with you. The nearest dairy/ supermarket/ garage is located at Springfield (en route from Christchurch and is 25 minutes away).
The nearest restaurant is at Flock Hill (10 minutes drive), or alternatively, the Bealey Pub (25 minutes drive), which are both en route to Arthurs Pass.
AMENITIES:
The house is a 1 & ½ storey log cabin. The downstairs level is made up of the back door entry from the covered carport, the main bedroom (double bed) and the bathroom which incorporates a shower, handbasin and toilet plus an automatic washing machine.
The kitchen is located three steps above the entrance area and consists of a fully equipped kitchen (microwave, fridge/freezer, full oven) plus a dining/lounge area with log fire, which leads out to a large covered deck.
Upstairs there are two separate bedrooms: 1 bedroom has 1 bunk and 1 single bed and the other bedroom has 2 bunks (one lower bunk is best suited to a child) and 1 single bed.
The downstairs double bed is equipped with pillows, electric blanket, woollen blankets and a duvet, and the upstairs beds all have pillows, under blankets and continental quilts.
