About this Holiday House

Traditional Kiwi Bach right on the Beach in a small community near the Bay of Islands. A perfect spot for kayaking/rowing dinghies/fishing or crabbing from the rocks, exploring rock pools/catching TuaTuas with your toes, floating in the ocean or catching small waves. Barbecue breakfasts and dinners or pop up to the Gallery Cafe for coffee/gourmet food looking down the hills to the ocean or browse the Gallery for the perfect earrings or painting. This is a relaxed community with little fencing between properties. Our Bach is part of 2 units. Both are absolute beachfront. We have our own front deck and bar {see gallery} and share a sunken sheltered Al fresco entertainment area{the pit} Please enjoy the Baby-Q Barbeque. Extra Gas and food can be purchased from Oakura, a 20 minute drive away.

Special Amenities

Right on the Beach. Fishing, shellfish, boating, kayaking. Lagoon and stream. Great adventures for kids walking around the rocks to tiny beach inlets either side of the bay.

10 minutes from The Gallery (local artist jewellry/statues /paintings/bespoke carved wooden furniture plus licenced cafe with to die for ocean view) Nearby Ngha Hau Beach great for picnics. Mimiwhangata Marine Reserve. Xmas beach sandcastle/fishing /sand running competitions etc.

My family of 5 had a great waitangi weekend at this property. The location is perfect right on the beach, it is a great kiwi bach which is well stocked with everything we needed for 3 nights, the hot water cylinder wasnt working but we had warm weather so a cooler shower was refreshing. Thanks.

We enjoyed a weeks stay in this iconic kiwi bach situated just steps from a beautiful beach and with the most glorious view. Just what we wanted and hard to find.The bach, while elderly came equipped with everything we needed and was clean and tidy. Situated amongst roughly 25 other mostly holiday homes, it was peaceful apart from the noise of the sea which we welcomed. The convenience of having the Oakura store 10-15 minutes over the hill and Helena Gallery and cafe up the road was a plus. Ngahau Bay,as recommended by Sarah, about 20minutes away offered a fabulous alternative afternoon at the beach, no baches or buildings there, just a farmhouse and outbuildings.Very unspoilt. All in all a great spot and we hope to come again. Thanks Sarah-John and Julia Bishop
