Opua is known as the place where you catch the ferry to Russell. We are also well positioned to access the best that the Bay of Islands and Northland has to offer whilst enjoying the quiet rural setting. The Twin Coast cycleway is at the end of our drive. It runs from Opua (via the train connection in Kawakawa) to Horeke on the West Coast and is very popular with e-bikers, walkers & cyclists. Opua Village is 2 Minutes drive or a short stroll or bike ride away. There is the Boatyard, Marina, Cafe, Opua Cruising Club - (a great place for a drink, dinner or one of the many social evenings & meet some locals) as well as the Opua General Store (excellent takeaway Coffee & food, Pizzas in the evenings and convenient superette), further along, the Fish & Chip Shop, Russell Ferry & the Village Hall. You can also book a pickup in Opua for many of the local tours and day trips. If you take the Russell car ferry you can easily spend a day wandering around the village of Russell with its quaint streets, fascinating museum, beautiful white sand beaches and character filled restaurants, including The Duke of Marlborough, the oldest licensed premises in New Zealand. Local vineyards in Russell include Paroa Bay with the renowned 'Sage' Restaurant and Omata Estate. Check opening times as in winter things may be different. Less than 6km to the Beaches, Shops & Restaurants of Paihia, & the rich culture of Waitangi Treaty grounds with its Visitor Centre. The Mountain Bike Park at Waitangi is popular with families. 10 mins drive to Kawakawa to explore the Vintage Railway, Art & Cafe culture as well as the famous Hundertwasser Toilets & new Arts Centre.
