About this Holiday House

* The house is fully self contained, modern, warm and comfortable, with heating and cooling via the air-conditioning unit above the dining table. * It is the perfect location for you to enjoy Hokitika or base yourself for travel south to the Franz Josef or Fox Glaciers or head north to Punakaiki and the Pancake Rocks. The pristine, sparkling beach (or rugged and rageing) is just a minutes walk away and can be enjoyed at any time of day, but especially at sunset as it can be just stunning. There is abundant driftwood for you to collect and take home as a momento of your west coast escape. There is a glow worm dell at the other end of the street. This is set in bush and is best enjoyed at night. These attractions add to real relaxed west coast vibe the house has. There are many activities close at hand: The West Coast Wilderness Cycle Trail is fast gaining recognition as the most scenic in the country, so you may want to bring your bike or hire one here and check it our for yourself. Keen golfers will enjoy the view of Mount Cook from the local Links course. The Hokitika Gorge is a local scenic icon and it's definitely worth the drive out there. You may enjoy taking the route to the Gorge which goes via Lake Kaniere through stunning bush and the Kokatahi and Kowhitirangi valleys There are many other enjoyable scenic walks through rain forest in the area. The Tree Top walkway located just south of Hokitika will give you a birds eye view of life in the forest. Our area is known for its pounamu (greenstone) and gold so be sure to check out the local craftsmen and women. You can even spend a day with a master carver and take home a piece of pounamu you have personally carved. The recently published Luminaries was set in Hokitika. It's an easy walk to town to the cafes, wine bar, supermarket and other facilities I will contact you a day or two before arrival day to give you the code to the lock box for access to the house - via email or mobile phone. If you wish to contact me please email me as I am frequently out of mobile phone coverage.
