The River House is a beautiful Andy Coltart designed property, part of the Black Barn River Lodges on the Tuki Tuki River. With breathtaking 180 degree views down the river and up to the majestic peaks of Mt Kahuranaki and Te Mata Peak, the property enjoys all day sunshine. Set within 6 acres of grounds including its own vineyard rolling down to the river, the house offers 5 double bedrooms and three shower rooms (one en suite) ; open plan kitchen / dining room with woodburner and a separate formal drawing room with open fire; east and west courtyards. The garden boasts a 12m swimming pool (Nov-March) and a large lawn suitable for wedding and marquee events (venue fee extra - see www.theriverhouse.co.nz). Flat rate for house when hired with venue is $2500 p/n min stay four nights. The River House is our family home and is furnished as such (as opposed to a soulless corporate rental!) so you will have to excuse personal touches such as photos, etc. Buy a fishing licence and head down to the river to catch dinner (in season) or for the more energetic a walk along the river path or a circuit of the Tuki Tuki Loop bike trail - both on the doorstep. The property is designed for entertaining and outdoor living with two fabulous courtyards always giving a sheltered option if the breeze picks up. This beautiful part of Hawkes Bay offers award winning wineries, with world class cuisine at Craggy Range (3 mins) and Black Barn (5 mins) and the rustic charm of the eateries at vineyards such as Clearview at Te Awanga (20 mins). Arguably topping it all is the award winning lodge, restaurant and world ranked #21 (Golf Digest 2023) golf course at Cape Kidnappers (25 mins). Havelock North is within 7 mins drive; Napier 20 mins and Napier Airport 25 mins. Other than one of New Zealand's best climates, world class golf courses and wineries, the area is also famed for the annual Art Deco Festival in February; the Mission Estate Concert, the Cape Kidnappers gannet colony; huge sandy ocean beaches at Waimarama (20 mins) and Ocean Beach (10 mins) ; the Tuki Tuki Loop and winery bike trails; trout fishing; Horse of the Year Show; and much much more..... The house is child friendly although with the normal risks posed by a swimming pool. Well behaved, small pets permitted by prior arrangement - Sidney our fluffy cat will be in residence - he enjoys sharing his house with you in exchange for his bowl being topped up - no smoking indoors.
