About this Holiday House

Enjoy Golden Bay from this great sunny central base. Close enough to walk to Takaka township for cafes and shops, but far enough away to be quiet and peaceful. Families welcome: fully fenced for children and pets. This is a comfortable and convenient spot to explore from. Rototai Beach and great river swimming are within five minutes drive, Pohara and Patons Rock beaches are 10 minutes away. Visit Te Waikoropupu Springs, Abel Tasman National Park, Farewell Spit and all the wonderful art, cafes, and other attractions Golden Bay has to offer. Come, relax and have a great summer holiday. Please note: in summer 19/20 a new extension was put on so there is now a second bathroom and two new bedrooms since reviews posted prior to this date.

We stayed at Sunshine Base from 26 December 2018 to 4 January 2019, and loved our stay. The house is really cosy and has everything you need. It was a handy spot near the town as well as Tata and Wainui Beach, rivers, and walks. Thanks to Tess for having us stay!

We had a lovely stay in your house, thanks Tess. It is very comfortable, clean and a real home from home, with a beautiful garden and plenty of space for five of us. It was nice to be near to the shops and cafes in Takaka. I would definitely book again.

We really enjoyed our stay at Sunshine Base. It is in a great location for exploring Golden Bay and for walking into Takaka too. Having the school sports facilities just around the corner was an added bonus! The house is well equipped and comfortable. We'd definitely stay there again. Thanks Tess.

There are beds for six people (a queen, a double and two singles which can be pushed together if wished). By arrangement, there are also two airbeds which can fit into two of the bedrooms or the lounge (please bring sleeping bags) and a portacot. There is also tent space in the back yard. Available over summer from 24 Dec 2020 to 5 March 2021.
