About this Holiday House

Rick and Karen welcome you to Pandanus Breeze, situated on our spacious oceanfront property on Mele Bay. We're located 7.5km along Devil’s Point Rd (gravel), and only 14km from Port Vila. Unwind in your well appointed fully self contained 2 bedroom guest house nestled beside the unique Pandanus trees. This is the perfect spot for your relaxing tropical getaway, privately located right beside the beach. Watch the beautiful sunrise from our nakamal/fare that overlooks the tidal rock pool, across Mele Bay to Port Vila. What a perfect spot to relax in a hammock or sun lounger with a book and a cool drink. Perhaps you will spot dolphins playing in the Bay or see the cruise ship come by. Take a swim in the tidal rock pool with its fresh sea water each high tide, and spot the little blue nemo fish resident there. You have immediate access to stroll along the adjacent sandy beach or wander in the other direction and explore the rocky foreshore. With its natangura thatched roof and decorative coral stonework, the house has a truly island feel. Each bedroom has a ceiling fan for your comfort. Cook on the BBQ or in the kitchen, and enjoy your meals at the patio's breakfast bar with its expansive views out to the ocean. Bring your own music device to connect to the wireless bluetooth speaker. Free Wifi is available. A provisions pack is provided - tea, coffee, milk, sugar, salt, pepper, cooking oil, foil, cling wrap, paper towels along with the usual cleaning products. Our gardener and family live onsite. Their house is located privately near the roadside, and our own house is sited to ensure guests' privacy. Servicing of the guest house during your stay isn't included but an additional set of all linen and towels is provided. Guests share the use of our laundry facilities. The convenience of a rental vehicle will allow flexibility during your stay, but we also know a reliable local bus driver Sam who is very willing to assist our guests.

This is a great property in a gorgeous setting, and the hosts (Karen and Rick) are wonderful - really helpful before, during and after our stay. They managed to find the perfect balance of being on hand when needed but at the same time giving us plenty of privacy. They were full of useful advice and suggestions - such as going to the Friday night Fire Show at the Beach Bar (and booking a table for us), which was a fantastic experience. They, along with Ishmael the gardener and of course the super friendly Nawi, made our stay a very special and enjoyable time. I can't praise them highly enough. Ishmael provided us with plenty of fresh coconuts and paw paw so we had yummy breakfasts every day, and we topped up with fresh mangoes etc from the market or roadside stalls. The property is comfortable and really well equipped and literally a few meters away from the sea. There are lots of lovely spots in the garden to sit and gaze out at the sea, whilst catching a breeze. In one direction there are rock pools aplenty and in the other direction is a sandy beach. The tidal rock pool is a delightful spot and the garden is lovely. It really is a special place. We hired a car so we had plenty of flexibility to go where we wanted, but we also used the services of the charming bus driver Sam one evening. It is a bit of a bumpy drive along the road to Pandanus Breeze but the upside of that is the privacy afforded. It was our first trip to Vanuatu and we loved it there. I managed to have a delightfully relaxing time and the younger ones went out most days and found plenty of things to do. You can choose the pace of your holiday here. I can't recommend Pandanus Breeze highly enough.

Were do I start, the house is perfect but the outdoor living is even better with all the comforts you need in that climate, from shade to hammocks to reclining deck chairs. Incredibly private, sheltered, with the best rock pool I've seen anywhere in the world. The snorkeling straight out from the house was fantastic. Ishmael the caretaker was very considerate of our privacy and always helpful when needed. For value for money you can't go past Pandanus breeze, we extend our stay it was that good.
Garry & Jo
Garry & Jo, Stewart & Lyn The rutts in the road paled into insignificance the minute we arrived in what was our own slice of paradise. Rick & Karen were the perfect hosts offering great advice on what to take, what to do and where to go - nothing like getting the local low-down before arriving. Ishmael was ever available, keeping the pool clean and the grounds immaculate, he even provided us with the highlight of our stay - guided tour of his island, the school, the village and even searching for shells along the beach for the "collectors". If you are looking for a no stress relaxing time out place to go, look no further than Pandanus. All four of us found our own special places of peace and tranquility here and of course the absolutely fabulous terrace where we spent hours talking, eating, drinking and 'laxing out! We will be back!
