About this Holiday House

Great comfortable and spacious beach home in Okarito - step out either of the large patio slider doors onto the large deck and gaze out to sea, listen to the birds and take in the sunshine! The roomy open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area are perfect for relaxing at the end of the day - windows surround these rooms, letting in sunshine all day - or great for watching a storm on a rainy day. The big wood burner and plenty of firewood will keep you cosy on a cool evening. Two comfortable queen bedrooms both have views out to the rainforest and mountains. The native bush around the house is perfect for attracting birds - listen to them by day and the sounds of the sea by night - classic Okarito living!

wood was damp and no kindling cut but dry flax flower storks very good for lighting fire. Nice house comfy bed. Great not to have to pay extra for cleaning or linen

Awesome, just wish we could've stayed longer. We quite often go to Okarito but this is the first time in Pukeko Landing. It is roomy and has a very relaxing atmosphere and everything you need. Only negative is the wood wasn't the driest. Would definitely come back and stay again.

HI Raewyn, so pleased you enjoyed your time in Okairto. Sorry about the wood - we went through a surprising amount for a few winter bookings and had to get in an emergency supply - will plan for more next year! Love to have you come back again anytime, cheers, Paula
The managers were extremely helpful and kind and allowed us to rebook much later for no cost when we could not make the original trip due to road closures. The house is spacious and the setting is beautiful and quiet, and I feel bad having to say a few negative things; most problems should be easily rectified, though. We arrived very wet and cold after a day of relentless rain, but there was no kindling and the wood was damp so took over an hour to light the fire. Amazed to find no heaters at all in the house as a back-up, and in addition the single electric blanket did not work. There was no soap in the house either, and only very diluted washing up liquid. One of the bedrooms was quite musty. The gas stove needs checking: fire went out on the main plate once or twice leaving the gas on. We did enjoy our time in Okarito, but were a bit disappointed with the house given the price (a very much cheaper one in Moana was much better maintained and stocked).
Response from Owner
Ah now I am doubly sorry in the end that offered "upgrade" for our place didn't work for you - darn!..But everything here noted, unfortunately this is the 2nd comment we have had about the wood, we had a winter supply go "missing" (hence the new locked door) and had to get an emergency supply in August - not ideal but did the best we could on that. But for any supplies, just a note - email or message - would have resulted in a quick remedy with supplies delivered to the door - we have an ample supply on hand, but obviously not topped up for your stay but we would easily have had any supplies you found you were short of brought to you. We will have the stove checked and appreciate your letting us know about that. The electric blanket is new to me, someone must have left it as we do not have them in that house - am guessing for next winter that would be a plus! It is not usually rented much during the winter, and other than the other wood comment I think everyone has been most comfortable. I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed the Okarito ambience and thank you again for your constructive comments - we will attend to all the details you have brought up.
