About this Holiday House

In the heart of the quaint seaside village of Punakaiki sits Wai-iti Retreat. Designed as a romantic haven, Wai-iti Retreat exudes creative eclectic charm, stimulating your senses, yet soothing your soul. So come on all you starry eyed romantics. Escape and enjoy a complimentary bottle of bubbles (or beverage of your choice....conditions apply) in the outdoor bath as you stare in awe at the magnificent limestone cliffs. Snuggle by the warmth of the driftwood fire before being serenaded by the waves crashing on the beach, as you tuck into bed. Wake in the morning to bird song and the fresh invigorating smell of West Coast rainforest. Search the beach for natures “treasure”, take a refreshing dip in the lagoon or explore the natural wonders of Paparoa National Park. This spacious studio style unit has a queen bed, dressed with quality cotton sheets, duvet, an electric blanket and European pillows. The ensuite bathroom is quirky and a reflection of the designers creative flair. There are plenty of fluffy towels and complimentary toiletries. In the kitchenette you will find a toaster, tea/coffee (French Press), fridge/freezer, microwave, electric frying pan, crockery/cutlery, glassware and an ice bucket. The dining table is big enough for 4 and there are plenty of candles for those romantic evenings in. In the lounge are two luxurious leather chairs for your relaxation and a sound system with ipod/phone connectivity. If you wish to keep in touch with the world or have work to do...Wifi (fibre) is now available. Come check out my driftwood art gallery too :) Guests comments: Thanks for such a neat West Coast experience. Love your little cottage with all your delightful creativity expressed inside and out! Sitting outside to eat and cooking dinner…even in the rain. A very comfortable not to mention gorgeous bed and pillows too!! Thank you. Linda & Bill. Lovely “Kiwi bach” experience. Outdoor tub is magic, under the Punakaiki stars! We had so much fun collecting stones on the beach. A beautiful place. Goina & Bo. Great central spot for 5 nights for exploring the area. No cooktop or pots (as mentioned in listing) so come prepared. Otherwise a good meal is available at Pancake Rocks Cafe or an adequate "pub" meal at the pub. Both within walking distance. Accommodation perfect for what we wanted - clean, spacious & private and Vaughan was a helpful host. Outdoor bath was a bonus we unexpectedly enjoyed in the presence of weka, tui & kereru. We loved all the quirky art works from driftwood, stone & shell that adorned the walls. We would love to stay again to complete our unfinished exploring of the area - there was more to do here than we realised!

Had a wonderful stay at this lovely hideaway, we asked for and gratefully stayed two nights extra . Nice to be away from devices, loved firepit, outdoor bath & surrounds, especially sweeping beach. Loved it, and look forward to return visit.
