About this Holiday House

The Heaney house at Whangamata is situated on one of the most desirable sites on the main beach. It is a Cape Cod style house just beyond the surf club patrolled area with spectacular views of the islands, main bay and beach. The house was originally constructed in the 1960s and designed by the then prominent architect, Bob Heaney, as his own beach house. It is one of the few properties left on the beach front that has not been subdivided. The house was substantially refurbished in 2012 and is finished to an extremely high standard while maintaining the original Cape Cod style. It has four separate bedrooms as well as a family rumpus room away from the main living area which also has beds. The two principal living areas of the house are divided by the modern laundry and bathroom. The house features decks which are suitable for all weather use. A fenced patio area provides a sheltered area with a view down the beach to compliment the undercover deck at the front of the house. Without doubt this is one of the nicest holiday properties in Whangamata and enjoyed by all who stay there.

This house is fantastic. We loved the design of the house. It has everything you need and more at your fingertips. Our family of 10 plus a toddler and a dog stayed for 3 nights. Everyone had such a great time that we didn't want to leave. The kitchen is well equipped right down to the spices you need to cook. There's a New World Supermarket 5 minutes away. The beach is right at your doorstep. When the tide is low you can walk across to a little island. My only comment would be to have a couple of fans. The first night we were there was very hot (especially the lounge). Once the wind direction changed, the house was cool and nice for the rest of our stay. We love this place and definitely will be back again. Highly recommended!!
