Walk down Pirie Street, among Victorian and Edwardian houses to Courtenay Place with dozens of restaurants and bars, Bats Theatre and the Embassy Theatre - within 10 minutes. Small 'dairy'/shop just down the road. Walk to Te Papa/national museum, Circa Theatre and along the waterfront. Walk to downtown in about half an hour - or take a No 2 bus. The first stop in Lambton Quay (the main street) is just past Cable Car Lane. The end of 'one section' from here is near the main gate of the Botanic Gardens.
