I have had the privilege of seeing much of Aotearoa, north and south islands, and I have to say that this setting is the most remarkable and enjoyable places I have stayed. It is set in 1000 acres of coastal farmland and bush, with serval stunning walks and areas to explore. Additionally, beautiful sunsets over the Tasman Sea and access to a stunning beach (at which we were the only visitors) made for a fantastic stay. It offers the very best of NZ and is an amazing place to unwind and really get into nature. Highest possible recommendation. It is well off the beaten track, the closest shop at least an hour away, so take plenty of supplies. (Cottage has everything you need). We stayed four nights and easily filled everyday exploring the area on foot - with a day trip out to Farewell Spit. Definitely heading back again!!

This is by far the best place we have ever stayed in 4 trips to New Zealand. If you want to get away from the crowds and go on incredibly beautiful hikes this place is for you. The owners are very nice and helpful and we will be back!

The road to The Remote Cottage was already an adventure in itself. The Cottage was fully equipped. Everything you need for comfortable stay was present. A warm welcome with a bouquet of fresh flowers. The location can hardly be described. A National Park in itself. We walked on the property for two days, where we came from one beautiful place to another. And not in the least a good beach to do some fishing (with as a bonus a seal watching you from a small distance). Magnificent.
