From the start, I have to say this was the highlight of our 2 week holiday around the south island. This was not the newest or most modern of all our accommodations but it had charm and warmth and it was very clean and homely. I initially feared that staying at Lake Pukaki instead of Lake Tekapo might be an error of my judgement. How wrong was I. The view was priceless. The location was perfect, it was half hour to Lake Tekapo. We arrived on a miserable wet day to find that the log fire was on and the cottage was warm and dry. This is an ideal place for farmstays, romantic getaways and for convenience of location in the Mackenzie district. If I should return to the South Island, it would be a must stay again.

The view is just amazing, absolutely one of our highlights travelling NZ and highly recommended. The cottage is well equipped and the communication with Julia was quick and easy. We could only stay for two nights and stayed glued to the front window most of the time, great place.

It was the best farm stay experience. And in the morning, around 7am you'd see the Alps up close and the beautiful Lake Pukaki. I think this lake is way too beautiful than Lake Tekapo. The cottage is warm with double glazing, we needed to turn off the heater because it's just so warm. The bathroom is cozy and clean plus complete kitchen equipments. Seems new. Overall, it was a fantastic stay. Would love to come back in summer and maybe try kayaking the lake. TIP: If possible, when traveling in winter time, check-in before 5pm as sunset is quite early.
