About this Holiday House

Fully serviced and equipped waterfront property. 100 yr old kauri cottage. Simple, 'old-style' kiwi bach. All beds will be made and towels provided on the beds. Service fee is included in the rates. The cottage has stunning views facing northwest and of the tidal harbour. The cottage is set in the central part of the historic town of Rawene on the Hokianga. It is only minutes away from an award winning cafe, the Boatshed and No 1 Parnel street Cafe & Gallery. There is a restaurant at the Hotel, a ferry trip to historic Kohukohu, a small beach, Clendon House - an early European Historic Places house, other historic houses, library and a small super market, whole food and fresh vegetables shop on your door step. The cottage has just finished building a new bathroom with walk in shower and a new separate toilet, there is also a bath, plenty of hot water, deck chairs, deck, fridge, stove, washing machine, all the required essential kitchen gear and a garden suitable for tents. Please note: it is an 'old fashioned simple' family bach- there is no TV, microwave or wifi. Furniture is 'eclectic' but very comfortable. There are many activities available like kayaking and windsurfing from the front garden, fishing, golf, horse riding. With a 15 min drive you have sandboarding at Opononi and 30min drive you are at the Waipoua forest and visit Tane Mahuta the 'largest' Kauri tree. Finally you are 45min drive to the Bay of Islands/Keri Keri Airport and Pihia.

Magic spot to enjoy a few days with our two kids (9 and 4). Loved the character of the bach and the history of Rawene and the Hokianga, and appreciated the cosy beds and new shower. Will be back for sure.

Old house with a lot of character (and a new shower with great water pressure). We enjoyed reading some of the books on the history of Rawene and the various photographs and other pieces of art on display. Best of all is the view of the harbour from the house and being able to launch our kayaks across the road 1 1/2 hrs before high tide.

Special! Rawene and the Hokianga has its own flavour and this is the best way to enjoy it. Woke up gazing across the waters to see waders in the low tide mud, then the church across the aater reveal itself from the mist. And the cottage is great. Very comfortable and well equipped but has not succumbed to becoming suburban in style. Its a bach, a great bach. Thank you for having us to stay. Will love to come again.

Hi Guys Thank you for the lovely feedback. We to find those moments gazing through the bedroom window out onto the water and mud banks quite special, unique and old New Zealand. Glad you enjoyed your stay Regards Gerald
